This was our first cruise and we had looked on cruise critic to see what our experience might be like. This seems like the kind of thing that is on everyone's bucket list and talking with other passenger's confirmed this. Overall, we are satisfied with the cruise, but we do have some issues.
People often rave about ship buffets but this one was, in a word, disgusting. The quality of food was worse than high school cafeteria food. Oddly enough some people we talked to agreed and some said they loved it, so it's subjective. Of note, though, the people who loved it admitted they NEVER cook at home.
We chose anytime dining and loved it! We met different people each night and, thankfully, the quality of the dining room food was much better than the buffet. The service was amazing and the staff were always on their game. We never bothered with the premium dining options as the food didn't appeal to us and I just couldn't imagine it being much better; after all, it's run by the same people.
Our cabin with balcony was adequate but with some problems. It was midship and mid-deck (as suggested by others to avoid sea-sickness). The carpet seemed to have several stains and the mattresses should have been tossed out years ago. The TV remote initially seemed broken until we figured out the channel button doesn't change the channels, the arrow button does (weird).
This was our final port. Nothing really to see here at all.
We loved Ketchikan! It's so cute and creek street has an interesting and "colorful" history.
