We are Platinum Princess cruisers, and overall have had many wonderful times aboard varied Princess ships, but sadly have to say Island Princess was not up to the standard we have experienced before, and have come to expect.

We chose Island Princess in order to transverse the Panama Canal, which proved to be a brilliant experience, made even better by the expert commentary on our progress by Chris Roberts, and information given beforehand. The ports were of great interest to us, except for San Pedro and our excursions overall quite good.

The service we received from our steward Jaime, and all other staff in the public areas was cheerful, friendly and efficient, with the level of excellence we have come to associate with Princess.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BF

We always choose a balcony cabin to be on an upper deck, as we like the easy access to the open deck, pools and hot tubs. It was well positioned but the terrible smell mentioned above, in the corridor outwe side appeared to come from the toilets outside the Horizon Court directly above. This really must be fixed, as it was incredibly unpleasant, though fortunately did not seep into our cabin.

Our steward Jaime was always cheerful, and extremely efficient, maintaining our cabin to a very high level, however the fittings are beginning to look very tired.

Port Reviews

Aruba

We were happy tjust go ashore and wander at our leisure. However, we were told by others the round-island tour was excellent, both visually, and information-wise.

Cabo San Lucas

Just walked around the town, very limiting shops, all pharmacies or souvenirs, found a quaint little museum in the town centre which gave us a good overview of the history of Cabo San Lucas.

Los Angeles

San Pedro has nothing much to see or do, other than the World War 11 battleship "SS Iowa" and the Coast Guard building but because we were there on a Sunday morning, maybe I am being a little unfair.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We embarked here.
