14 Great Days on the Royal Princess

Review for the Western Mediterranean Cruise on Royal Princess

We did a 14 day Mediterranean cruise aboard the Royal Princess out of Athens to Barcelona from June 11th to June 25th. There were 2 sea days with stops at 10 different ports where we did 9 Princess excursions. At Monte Carlo we did our own walkabout to take in the sites.

We are a retired couple in our mid sixties and felt right at home on the ship from the moment we boarded her. Our stateroom, A509, was a deluxe balcony unit and it was quite adequate. Sure, the balconies are a bit on the small side, but you have to make the best of what's available.

We had all of our breakfasts in the Horizon Court buffet on deck 16 and the food was excellent with a wide variety available. But, if you like your coffee hot, get it from one of the coffee makers and not from the carafes that the waiters carry about. Dinners were eaten either in the dining room (we chose any time dining), the buffet or Alfredo's Pizzeria. We never had to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes for seating in the dining room.. We chose not to dine in any of the specialty restaurants that have cover charges. The dining room food was also excellent.
