I have cruised with Celebrity a few times and it has always lived up to my expectations but not this last one. The restroom in the cabin number 6317 had a drain that stank from sullage (waste water). The management did absolutely nothing to repair the fault but try to mask it with fragrances poured down the drain many times a day and the placing of an air freshener in the room. Sullage contains bacteria and instead of isolating the room they played Russian Roulette so to speak with our health and that of the rest of the ship, should an infection have broken out. We were offered nothing as a recompense not even an apology. The attitude of the other management was no better.

There was a concerted drive to make the passengers use the expensive speciality restaurants ($50 US each) to the detriment of all other dining especially the buffet where the choice on the evening menu has shrunk to a ‘what can we get away with’ level.

There were complaints galore from loads of passengers especially about the excursions. One passenger in a wheelchair was taken on an excursion to a castle where there were no lifts and on another occasion he was supposed to have booked a three-hour sightseeing tour and ended up being ferried to an observation tower, dumped for half an hour and ferried back to the ship an hour early. Another lady booked a culinary special where she would be taken to a fish factory and an accompanying chef would prepare a meal using the different fish caught. When they arrived at the factory it was closed for it was a bank holiday. The chef provided a huge block of frozen cod and cooked it for them but the lady said he had not cooked it properly. After complaining her excursion money was refunded but she was very disappointed. You cruise with Celebrity at your own peril.
