We chose this cruise because it was close to home, not getting on a plane is the way to go if possible. We also chose it because it was our anniversary.
Overall this was disappointing. The Grandeur is probably 20 years old, and although it has been refurbished you could definitely tell it's age. The only outstanding features about this cruise was embarkation and disembarkation, and the Diamond lounge. Being a Diamond member, mainly because of our loyalty to Celebrity because both lines are owned by the same company, did come with perks. Three free drinks were loaded onto our sea pass every day. In addition they offered a "happy hour" if you will, with hors deurves. The ports of call were also excellent. Food, entertainment, on board activities, and cabins were below what we have experienced on other cruise lines. Granted that many of these short comings might been attributed to the fact that the ship was older and smaller, and could not offer a wide range of amenities.
We would not consider Royal Caribbean again unless it was a newer ship
Our cabin was classified as a "junior suite". In reality, it was slightly larger than a standard veranda / balcony cabin on other ships. The chase lounges on our balcony were torn, and the chairs had paint on them. The pillows on the bed felt as though they had been there from when the ship was first launched.
Embarkation and disembarkation was among the smoothest we have experienced.
We did Boston on our own. Hiked the Freedom Trail. Very interesting.
Hired a land based company for tour of the city.
Hired a tour company from Trip Advisor. We had 7 people and it was fantastic, as well as less expensive than what the ship offered.
Once again, we hired a tour company from Trip Advisor. Excellent!!
