This was our first River Cruise. We were pleased by the two for one specials and the great air fares offered by Viking. We have been on one ocean cruise, and we loved this river cruise so much more. The whole Viking experience was far above our expectations. We sailed on the Viking Vidar from Trier to Basel. The ship is as beautiful as the pictures and videos. The crew was fabulous! We loved the size of the ship and the towns that we visited, the tours and excursions were excellent. All the guides were so knowledgeable. So much more info and history than my brain could hold!!

Our stateroom was lovely- the bathroom above expectations. The whole staff bend over backwards to help you. The meals on board were fabulous! We ate one meal off the ship, and it did not compare to anything we had on board. Our program director was wonderful. Full of energy and enthusiasm for every outing. The wait staff in the restaurant were simply the best- great personalities, made each meal a fun adventure!!

I especially loved the time on the ship sailing up the Middle Rhine- such a perfect, beautiful day. Our trip started with two days in Paris, at a 5 star hotel in the heart of Paris. Our cruise director was in the lobby to help with any details/ questions. I was very impressed with our motor coach trips. The buses are first class, and always a guide on board giving interesting info about the towns and countryside. We extended our trip in Lucerne. Again, Viking provided excellent motor coaches, hotel in a great location in the heart of the city and a walking tour. The extension was well worth the price. Viking took care of us all the way to security check in at our departure in Zurich. Read more
