This was our 6th Celebrity cruise and our 4th Celebrity ship, and it was the BEST!
Although Bermuda had to be cancelled for our safety because of a storm, FRANCE was added!
The Captain and the staff did a fantastic job (how about an egg drop contest from the 7th floor to entertain on sea days?!)--but what made this cruise "over the top" was Darran Ridley, the Executive Chef. How can these be prepared for over 2,000 passengers and be as delicious as anything we'd had in restaurants anywhere:
The cabin was the usual for a nice Celebrity cabin. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom a good size, the balcony was comfortable. We enjoyed watching many excellent movies on the television during "rest" times--quite a few recent Academy Award films.
Southampton has a lot to offer. We enjoyed the architecture and local tributes to the Titanic--its passengers and crew. The Sea City Museum had an excellent exhibit on The Titanic. Mayflower Park allowed us to see what the Pilgrims viewed as they set sail for North America. We had a delicious lunch at the White Star Inn. The people we met were very friendly.
Not far from Southampton are Salisbury and Winchester where we enjoyed the cities and the cathedrals. Stonehenge is in the vicinity; we did not go there because we were warned that the Druids were having sit-down protests over parking lot fee issues, and were blocking the roads.
We spent 1 night in Southampton before heading southeast to Looe and Beer, then 2 more nights in Southampton allowing time to explore.
