Celebrity Infinity Cruise Review by Buck1949
- Sail Date: March 2016
- Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B
We found the ship in pretty good shape, however there were some small areas we noted that were due for a little fix up. The shower and areas surrounding the vanity were heavily laden with caulking that appeared to be layered many times in order to keep problems away. We did notice a chipped floor tile and a bit of dark in the caulking / grout but did not feel this was of any health concern.
The room was spotless, and our Cabin Steward Michael was very approachable and always ready to assist with any request. His partner Gareth were both great and we could not have had better service. I do miss the evening ''towel animals" found on other cruise lines though.
The food on board at all of the venues we tried was in one word OUTSTANDING. All of the meals were presented very well, and portions were more than adequate. As always you could order more than one item if you really wanted to. We tried the Trellis Restaurant, Tuscan Grill, The Oceanview Buffet, Poolside Bar and Al Bocia. The Tuscan Grill (Specialty Restaurant) was beyond compare, and provided more food during our experience than one person could ever consume. Kudos to the wait staff and chefs and other staff.....as the food was overall superior to any other ocean cruise line we had ever experienced.
We did not attend any of the talks or presentations, however did watch a few on the in-cabin television. This brought another observation in that the interactive TV that was supposed to be so helpful was anything but. You could order excursions via the TV, and also some movies, however any thought of trying to do reservations for dinner did not exist. We also noted that some very old information was on the information channels ..... (still advertising the SS United States Restaurant on Deck 3) and making reference to enjoying activities in the Caribbean (we were in the Panama Canal), and lastly reference to enjoying events beginning in the year 2011. We made the ships staff aware of the TV situation and was personally contacted while onboard to acknowledge that they would deal with the issues with the proper area soon.
We found all the staff from the various areas of the ship....always with a smile, and many times went out of their way to insure that we were able to have an item that normally was not readily available. We were truly impressed, even with the older ship, and do intend to look at Celebrity for future cruises.

Cabo San LucasHad an excellent time riding the Camels along the beach, and having nice food and tequila sampling. This was a fun experience, and was well worth the 4 hour plus experience.View All 1,321 Cabo San Lucas Cruise Port Reviews

City Tour in CartagenaWe booked this excursion months before the cruise. Marelvy provided great communication/emails before the tour. We were very impressed with her expertise, her timeliness, and her enthusiasm with our group of 17 people. We were treated like friends, and she saw to it that we were in a clean, air conditioned mini-bus, made frequent stops, and provided us with an excellent look at her community both the old and new. Well worth the experience.View All 13,314 City Tour in Cartagena Reviews
Panama Canal TourRoberto is a 35 year employee of the Panama Canal system who does independant tours and has an in depth knowledge of the workings of the entire canal system. We were able to view the original Gatun Locks and also the soon to be opened "new" locks which were in the final months of completion. Roberto provided us with an Air Conditioned bus, and also was able to show us the countryside, and small business operating along the roadside where we were able to obtain snacks and a cool drink.View All 95 Panama Canal Tour Reviews
City TourNatalio was at the pier offering van rides through the city of Puerto Vallarta. Boy are we glad we found him (or he found us). His van was clean and air conditioned, and Natalio provided us with a nice tour of the city, and provided numerous unplanned stops along the way. We went in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, as well as made a stop at the beach. We also saw the Casa de Kimberly (Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's home) and many other areas. This was scheduled for a 2 hour tour, but I believe Natalio provided us with closer to a 3 hour tour of the area. This city is a place we would love to return to in the future.View All 61 City Tour Reviews
Island TourThis independent tour was outstanding, starting with being picked up at the pier by Omar, and provided a neice air conditioned bus, for our group of 20. This tour provided stops in the Rain Forest, to see the white faced monkeys; to sample fresh fruits in a local fruit stand; to take a river boat ride to see crocodiles and other wildlife, to dine at a roadside restaurant, and also to be able to make stops for photos and do a bit of shopping where we purchased some delicious bagged coffee. Omar our tour guide was very knowledgeable and seemed to thoroughly enjoy doing tours. This is a Not to be Missed tour which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience the variety that Puntarenas Costa Rica has to offer. While this is an all day tour, we never felt rushed and had ample time for rest breaks and to see much of the area.View All 9 Island Tour Reviews
