Cabin: Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

We went on our first cruise for our honeymoon. We did the beverage package, had a mid-ship balcony, and did 2 shore excursions. The beverage package was perfect, all drinks under $15 were unlimited, if not you paid the difference for every penny you go over (which we never ran into this problem). The only problem we ran into with the beverage package was the port fee. Our cruise was delayed a couple of hours due to high winds. Every beverage sold before departing Miami we had to pay a small port fee. We probably combined to have 12 drinks which only lead to about $8 in charges total (NOT MUCH I KNOW!) Just makes you think how much extra money they make for something that was suppose to be free to begin with the beverage package.

The mid-ship balcony was a great experience for us. I will echo what other reviews have said in that you certainly feel the waves more than what you think you will. Our room was in great shape and it exceeded our expectations for consistent upkeep. I wouldn't let one bad review about cabin upkeep hold you back-all staff we crossed in the hallways were friendly and always greeted us.

The shore excursions were OK. St. Thomas' Magens Bay was very crowded. We took a tour bus (20 ppl) there and saw some great scenery. On the way back, a couple was over the top obnoxiously drunk (really embarrassed for them, and this is coming from someone who really enjoys their drinks!). This truly ruined it for us as we couldn't hear anything the tour guide was saying. We strongly recommend not doing a bus tour, but rather doing a private taxi for a cheaper and more enjoyable experience. Tortola was probably our highlight. We did the Canopy Tour (MUST-DO!) which brings you to breath-taking views and ends with zip lining with even more views. Bahamas we were not impressed with. You can't walk 3 steps without being haggled by locals trying to sell. We were looking forward to the shopping here, but it became too annoying to be enjoyable. AVOID the Straw Market!

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

Very crowded. Tour on the way there was ruined by an obnoxious drunk.

Tortola

Very under the radar and under-advertised! Highly recommended!

Nassau

Very crowded and way too many people trying to sell things to you every step of the way (LITERALLY EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!)

Miami

Don't go out after dark, crazy the difference in people during the day versus at night!
