We booked the Ruby a few months in advance for the four night Catalina/Ensenada cruise. Originally booked in an interior on Riviera deck, we were upsold to a Caribe balcony about a month out and were happy with our change. The balcony is larger and half covered on this deck, we were in C310 port side forward midship. The cabin was nice, clean (we wiped it down anyway) and the new bed was extremely comfortable as were the linens. Mariana our cabin steward did a great job during our stay.
This was our first cruise now at Platinum level, so we enjoyed priority embarkation, the Sky lounge appetizers and drink specials each evening before dinner with our kids. The priority disembarking was great as well, we were off and in our car at 8am....great job. We enjoyed the thermal suite package for the entire cruise and loved that option during our time on board. The storm that Friday would prevent us from a Catalina port, so we got San Diego instead which worked out great as the rain did not get there until 3pm and the morning was sunny and nice providing good weather to walk down to Seaport Village for a while. Our sea day weather was fantastic as well as Ensenada port day, making pool lounging very enjoyable.
The Ruby looks great with some new carpeting...we did try the Salty Dog on our last night. We all loved the food, pricing is good for what you get, but my wife and I would be fine sharing one portion but that's not allowed. After the appetizers and three plates then desert we were uncomfortable to say the least. Can't fault the food, everything was really well prepared and presented, service throughout the ship was fantastic. Our server in De Vince dining room for anytime Maida and Filip did a wonderful job and the food was well prepared and good.
Carribe balconies are much larger than others, this location was quiet and well located we thought. The new beds are super comfortable.
