Cabin: Garden Villa

Hello, I am on the Norwegian Jade this week, February 6 through February 13, 2016. I am living in the Haven, Garden Villa 14500, for my birthday. It is such a wonderful experience. We have 3 cabins in our villa, 2 balconies, a hot tub, hammock, covered outside and inside dining areas, TV’s galore, a player piano, coffee machine (I am becoming quite the Barista), a Butler, a Cabin Steward, and a Concierge who is worth his weight in gold. I am traveling with my children (mid 20’s) and their friends. We are from New York State and the weather is FINE for us (a bit chilly for the native Texan’s).

There are plenty of videos on line showing the Garden Villa. Search one out for visuals. Someday I will be savvy enough to add visuals to a word document.

One of the questions I had for NCL that wasn’t answered until I got to the Villa was, “Where do the 6th and 7th passengers in the cabin sleep?” The answer I got from the land-based crew was, in the living room on pull out twin chairs. Actually, there is a pull out chair in one of the smaller cabins and a pull out couch in the master cabin in the Villa. Since we were 2 mature adults in the master cabin, we did not want a 20 something sleeping with us so the couch bed was “out”. Also, the 6 young adults were not couples so I figured they would not want to share a bed. Unfortunately the queen size beds in the 2nd and 3rd cabin in the Villa did not separate out into 2 small twins (imagine that on a cruise ship), so the Cabin Steward put roll away beds in the Villa, two in the “living room” and one in the cabin without the sleep couch. Not a bad arrangement, the kids are happy and I don’t have to share my bedroom with anyone but my husband.

Cabin Review

Garden Villa

Cabin H1

Largest "cabin", more square footage than most houses. 3 BRs at one end with a large living/dining area on the other separated by a foyer. 2 levels of outside decks (private) with a hot tub and steam room. Some wear but wonderful just the same.

Port Reviews

Houston

Hobby Airport is closer to the port than Bush. Think about renting a car at the airport and dropping it off in Webster (no extra charge). The Budget rental in Webster is in a tiny store front in a strip plaza (very hard to find). Drop your bags at the port, drop off the rental and take a cab to the port. Works well with large groups, we rented a van.

Cozumel

Not far from pier. Weather not great so snorkeling not available at Dolphinaris. Didn't need to book through ship, could easily get to on own and wouldn't need to wait for the group. Go to taxi stand, 5 min or less drive to the site, get ticket or book online direct with the site and take taxi.

Roatan

Short tender to pier, wait for group to form, bus into rain forest to site. efficient set up. Friendly workers. Kids went tandem with workers. 11 zips go too fast!

Belize City

Tender port, about 30 minutes on tender (not ship tenders). Typical small port shops plus the usual jewelry stores.
