Generally I do not write reviews that comment about the short comings on a trip but this one can not go without comment. Embarkation: The cruise got started with several problems. First problems was the sign-in that was done in the patio of terminal while it was raining and blowing close to 30 mph winds. Second problems was that sign in was incomplete so that meant that you had to go to a second sign in for you ID picture. The Cabin and Stewards on the ship is great especially the Stewart's who are friendly and efficient. Dining; The main dining room waiters Juan and Arnold were great but this however does no make up for the poor food that is served in the main dining restaurant. The menu item would be considered an international incident if Mexico new just how bad the few mexican dishes that are served and presented. The head chef should take some classes from the local taco vendor's to learn just how to prepare good mexican food. One example was the Chile relleno that was served on one of our dinner nights. The Chile pod was not cleaned and roasted and was stuffed with vegetables that do not have origins in Mexico. The outer crust was just that a dried up crust that would pass as adobe mortar. The other thing that is of note is that chips and salsa are not the only relish in the mexican food cuisine. Summary: Staff was great but food was a bust. The chef is not entirely to blame since he is not even from Mexico and has no heart for mexican food but in fact the carnival ship corporation bears the whole responsibility. Carnival has the idea that chefs from India know all about international foods. The corporation should try the foods and menu selections and see just what is being served.
