This was our second NCL cruise and we had a good time aboard the Jade, but it was not as friendly as the Jewel. The best feature was taking advantage of the ultimate beverage package. Of course, you must pay TABC until you are in open water and I guess some of the beverage options are limited, but we did not find this to be negative.
Aboard the Jewel - returning from Shore Excursions the crew would make a welcome back line to greet passengers. Since this was my previous NCL experience, I was disappointed about the lack of crew presence on this ship, especially at the pier.
Entertainment was outstanding on the ship. We enjoyed the shows, and especially David Naster. All too often, jokes turn nasty but David Naster, "You Just Got to Laugh" was a great comedian and we bought his books and I have downloaded his app - he covers bully prevention, work situations, grief, and helping people laugh at themselves.
We did not meet our cabin steward until Day 2 but he called to us in the hallway by name. I was impressed that he studied his passengers and recognized them. We didn't ask for anything but we had everything we needed. Our room was kept spotless and our balcony which was spacious, was also very clean. Our suitcases stowed nicely under the bed. We heard no outside noises and although we were below the Italian restaurant, we did not hear noise from the kitchen nor the restaurant. I do wish that with every port room, you would see the port - but this is not always the case. I missed this in Cozumel as every other sailing, we have seen the pier from our balcony.
