I am a very experienced cruiser, I have taken cruises with my family in tow- three children and as a couple with my husband only. I have logged over fifteen cruises on Celebrity, Costa, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival. I normally stay in a balcony or suite.
This cruise on the Celebrity Summit was to be something special for my husband and I- our empty nester cruise. It was just the two of us. We tried an Aqua class suite- we were astounded at how small it was; smaller than the Concierge and regular balcony rooms on the Summit. The bathroom shower had swinging doors, like in an Wild West saloon; it was impossible to take a shower in this tiny, narrow shower without water spilling out all over the floor- you had to use all your towels to mop up the mess. The bed would not stay together, a crack was always present in the middle and once you were in the bed the crack would grow bigger! The bed was the most UNCOMFORTABLE mattress I have ever had on any ship. Our steward could not speak any English. We asked him to try and fix the bed, but it never happened. Despite him nodding in the affirmative. We never received ice in our bucket, despite asking him and talking to the adjacent steward to our cabin. Not that this is a serious problem, but the Aqua class is touted as a personal butler service suite- it just isn't worth the money.
That said, the private dining room for Aqua travelers- the Blu, was lovely! It was possibly the best service I have ever received in a dining room. The maitre'd - David- was impeccable in his attention to detail, service and compliment. All of the servers were the best!
Size of an RV- bathroom tiny, atrocious. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced on a cruise ship!
Poor steward service, no ice, not enough towels. He couldn't answer questions in English. Not sure he understood, either. We asked for laundry service and he didn't understand.
First time scuba diving in 30 feet of water-- we saw a barracuda!
