Sail Date: Aug 2015
Cabin: Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

This was mine and my wife's 4th Royal Caribbean cruise having previously done 3 on the Independence of the Seas. We loved the Independence and chose the Anthem of the Seas as it was meant to be the long term replacement for Independence.

First impressions didn't go very well at check in, we had done the online check in and even took photos as instructed to save time, everyone was meant to have a 30 minute appointment slot but nobody adhered to this so when we arrived we were meant to be greeted by a representative with an Ipad to authorize our setsail pass and stamp it so we could embark immediately. Unfortunately there were not enough representatives and we were asked to sit in an area to wait for one to come to us, unfortunately there was no order to the queue and people who were arriving well after us were being seen before us. Eventually we got on board.

First impressions inside the ship were very good, it was immaculately clean and had very spacious bars and public areas which is the one major fault that Independence of the Seas has, the bars are just too small.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

Cabin K

Disappointing because the virtual balcony was in the wrong position and just did not create the desired effect. TV channels very poor.

Bed extremely comfortable, bathroom ok and all kept very clean by our room attendant.

Port Reviews

Gibraltar

Just a great stopoff port for shopping would be better to stop here as last port on way home.

Florence (Livorno)

The port was La Spezia not Livorno, we took a free shuttle to the centre then took a boat to see the beautiful village of Portovenere, you can see the whole of Cinque Terra this way at a fraction of the cost of the ships tours.

Seville

NYou can see everything here in 1 hour, not a good port.

Lisbon

Made our own tour by buying tickets for aquarium online and taking a taxi for 5 euros each way, total cost for 2 people including tickets 26 euros, the ship wanted over 50 euros each for the same tour.

Vigo

Worst port ever, nothing to do and is just a ship restocking port, I would rather have an extra day in the med, for a Mediterranean cruise we only actually spent 7 days in the med, 3 ports like this one are in the Atlantic.
