This was our first ocean cruise, having done three river cruises with Viking River Cruises. This time we tried their newly-launched ocean liner, the Viking Star, on the Homelands Cruise in Scandinavia. The countries visited were beautiful - our favorite was Norway. We were not disappointed in the overall experience. Viking goes beyond wanting to accommodate you in all aspects of travel and we had no complaints and no regrets making the cruise. We had a fantastic time; and Viking keeps you busy with shore excursions and on-board activities if you so choose to participate. The ship itself is beautiful and topnotch. We liked that it is not the mega-cruise ship you normally see. The food was excellent, our stateroom was perfect (and all rooms have a balcony with a table and chairs), and the staff from the captain down to those who clean your stateroom are friendly, helpful, accommodating and ready to listen when you talk. The tour guides on all our excursions were just as friendly as the Viking staff. All in all, we had a fantastic cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises and will not hesitate to recommend Viking to anyone and have done so many times.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe Veranda

The cabin was more than adequate. The bed very comfortable, even the pillows. We had a small sitting area which was adequate. A dressing table with a lid to pull up with a mirror and lights and blocks to keep your jewelry, makeup (and the mirror and light to do your makeup in the morning), and whatever else you wanted to keep there. The bathroom was excellent. Only room for one person at a time, but that is no problem. The shower was perfect and larger than I have at home so I miss this shower! It had a shelf to keep your soap, hair products and whatever else you need in the shower. The room also had a balcony with a small table and two chairs. And the closet was certainly large enough for your clothes and any gifts you bought to bring home. Could use a bit more drawers for clothes you didn't need to hang in the closet, but we managed okay on that. More than we needed.
