Our 6th cruise with RC so we kind of knew what to expect. Before the cruise we had used the RC website to book restaurants, excursions and a "Wine and Dine" package. Not everything worked first time but we got there after several follow up phone calls. Good points Embarkation - really quick from car park to stateroom. Well done RC ! Balcony stateroom was as good as expected. Spacious and well fitted out. The ship was excellent. We never felt that the ship was crowded even with the weather (cool and windy) restricting the use of the pool deck. We had no trouble finding our way around the ship once you had worked out which was the pointy end. Food was generally very good (but more later) especially Chops Grille and Silk but Grande and Chic also pretty good. We found the Windjammer was good with a good choice of food and rarely too crowded.he Solarium and rear viewing deck were very pleasant areas to spend some time. On the other hand The robotic bar was interesting - when it worked but who wants a drink in a plastic cup? More of a place to spend 5 minutes, shrug and walk off to get a proper drink. American Icon - slow service and cold food one night. One night there was a restricted menu in all the complimentary restaurants. Not much choice and very disappointing. We had a mix up at Jamie's. Having paid before boarding we were told that this was an a la carte menu and we would have to pay for each course again. It was eventually sorted out but not before we cancelled Jamie's ! Having paid pre-cruise for our Wine & Dine package we were told on the first night it was no longer available. We were offered 25% of each bottle of wine but had to explain every night to the waiter in the restaurant or we were charged full price. We had to visit Guest Services twice before our pre-payment was refunded. Wine was a problem everywhere on the ship. The wine menu seemed to bear no relation to what the bar or restaurant had available. Rather than matching the wine with the food you had to first find out which bottles they actually had on board ! We were a bit surprised to find our Maiden Voyage stateroom was dirty with marks on the paintwork and toilet door and the dressing table stool was stained with either make up or fake tan. All quickly cleaned and profuse apologies all round. Sorry if the list sounds daunting but all the problems were quickly dealt with and we DID have an enjoyable cruise once you had learned to laugh off the problems ! It won't stop us booking with RC again but maybe on a smaller ship. Oh, and the booked arrival in Bilbao on a Sunday was a mistake. Bilbao was shut. The schedule of this cruise need to be reconsidered.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8122
After the initial need to get the cabin cleaned it was pretty good.
The voyage was pretty windy and we had a very annoying whistling noise as the door seals had not been fitted correctly which kept us awake one night. The problem was dealt with by the ship's maintenance team.
