I did a lot of research before the week we cruised (3/29-4/5) and went into it eyes wide open. I knew about the flaws of the ship, and tried to keep a positive outlook.
I would give the overall experience a rating between poor and average. But because of the below average service, that is why I went with the poor rating.
I was traveling with my wife, 12 year old daughter and my wife's mom. We're from a Chicago suburb, and was looking forward to some warm weather after the long winter. We weighed out the cost of different cruises, and this particular one seemed to fit our budget since I was also treating my mother-in law to a single studio room.
As stated earlier, the cabin was small, and not designed well. Would not have put the only sink in the main part of the room. This room had a tub + shower, which was a decent size.
One suggestion I would have for those pondering which side of the ship to get a balcony room on - all of the ports we went to had better views on the opposite side of the ship. We were on the port side, which when we were at a dock, faced away from where everyone got on/off. While you didn't see what was going on on that size, it was much quieter.
Embarkation was better than I thought it was going to be. When we got to the pier, there were a lot of people, and the line for terminal C was getting long. I think we got there right when it opened, so the line was moving pretty quickly past security, and into the check in.
Once checked in, you make your way onto the ship, get a quirt of hand sanitizer and find your room.
Walked around, did some shopping. I've been here before, so knew what to expect. Weather was better this day. We stopped in Margaritaville for lunch. Made it back to the ship by 2p.
I've never been here, but was told by some that the pier where we docked was recently rebuilt with new stores. It made it a bit difficult to go anywhere, because you had to go through these shops before you could leave the pier. After we made it though, we walked up the street by the water.
