Sail Date: Apr 2007

This was my 4th cruise with Carnival and the first time my husband and I sailed on one of the larger ships. We had previously sailed on the Fascination and Imagination. The Carnival Legend is an amazing ship. It is spacious and very well designed. Public Areas are all neat and clean. The management of this ship is actively involved in the operation of the vessel. I had the opportunity to speak with the Assistant Director of Housekeeping as he supervised a Lido Deck cleaning crew. Not only did I shake the Captain's hand at his cocktail party, I spoke with him during a piano concert in one of the lounges. The pianist would have played my request if she had the necessary sheet music! Food aboard the Carnival Legend is well prepared and served at proper temperatures. The Omelette Station at breakfast was one of my favorite things. Lunches and dinners at Truffles Restaurant were delicious exquisitely presented. Desserts were decadent. Don't miss the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Pie served on embarkation day at the Unicorn Cafe. The German Chocolate Cake, Creme Brulee, and Warm Chocolate Melting Cake are all "to die for". The only dining room issue I had was that the Maitre'D could not switch me to early dining. However, he did manage to move me from a table for 6 with no other guests to another table where my dining companions were a 40 something year old gentleman and his pre-teen son. There was another table for 8 with 3 couples near my age - and room for two more guests. Unfortunately, I was not able to sit with them.

My husband and I experienced the "Hop On Hop Off" Guana Bus tour at Grand Turk. This excursion also included admission to the historic lighthouse and the prison. The tour guides were well spoken, both on the bus and at the sites. However, two of the buses we rode were not properly maintained mechanically. One bus had overheated rear brake pads, which locked the rear wheels and prevented the vehicle from going. The next bus did not have a working AC. We thought that for $39 per person, this tour was a bit overpriced for what was actually received. I do not recommend dining at Margaritaville! My husband and I spent $45 including tax for lunch. Although the Cheeseburger In Paradise was delicious, the Nacho Platter was horrible - stale chips topped with watered down Cheez-Wiz sauce! In Nassau, we were delighted to discover that for only $1.00 per person, we could ride a bus through the city center and visit a few neighborhoods. We did not get off the bus, as we did not want to get lost. If we would have had more time in port, we could have paid $4.00 for round trip bus fare (for 2) to Millennium Mall, a major shopping center. Downtown Nassau has several American businesses which cater to the cruise ship industry. I enjoyed my afternoon coffee break at Starbucks!

The Bars and Lounges aboard the Carnival Legend are plentiful and there's an endless array of drinks to choose from. I love the "FunShip Special" and the "Goombay Smash"! For the non-drinker, there are plenty of options as well. The Carnival Legend is truly a "Fun Ship"!
