I'm writing this review as a person who just completed cruise number 11. This is important because from what I have noticed many of the negative reviews come from seasoned cruisers. There is nothing like the first time cruising. It is almost magical. That's why I've done 11 cruises in 6 years. For most of us everything loses its shine after repeated use. Cruises are the same. If you are a first time cruiser keep this in mind. See what the first time cruisers think when checking out a ship. That will be more likely to approximate how you will enjoy yourself.
With that being said I can say that I had a really nice time. My husband and our 5 kids got a last minute deal for spring break. Because it was last minute we couldn't get connecting rooms or a balcony. We got rooms 1810 and 1824. Yep. The news ones. More about the rooms later.
I wrote a review of the Freedom back in 2010 which is available here somewhere. I didn't review it before I started writing this one. I'm still not going to look at it so excuse any lapses in my memory. That cruise was 5 years ago.
We actually occupied room 1810 and 1814. They are the newer rooms added at dry dock. Size is small and it's really tight for 4 people. Only one bathroom and sink. I really miss Disney's layout which was leaps and bounds better than this. Obviously it looks nice. Window is huge. It's full length. Great view (but you can see a little of the bridge in 1810. We saw a crew member standing on it once. 1814 is unobstructed. No balcony which is the first time the kids have sailed without one. They didn't miss it. The location foward on deck twelve was awesome. Same deck as the arcade and kids club. Quick access to 2 bars. Crazy close to the gym. Elevators can take a while but they are not usually crowded at the top. Only noise we heard was the faint sound of bass coming from music. I'm not sure where it came from...gym class? the pool? It didn't bother me at all. No sounds coming from above. I would consider it a quiet room.
