We had toured a week in Venice and a week in Florence. As Valentines Day was approaching we started exploring something different for the following week. Since we were already in Europe we wondered about a cruise. This cruise was the only one to fit our interest and time frame. We got a great last minute deal by phone directly through Costa in the week before departure. We were thrilled to find that we had been randomly upgraded from an Outside Classic Ocean View (window) to a Premium Veranda (balcony).
Very few English as a first language passengers, but many spoke enough to be understood and were very warm to us. There were a LOT of Families from Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Slavic countries.
A TON of kids who were up late after the 9PM Seating for Dinner and would be howling while being dragged down the long passageway to their cabin and bed. The kids at 6:30 Dinner seating were very well behaved.
Our cabin was by the elevators so many late night partiers would stand in the bank of elevators as a group late at night and would recount their evening and laugh loudly. Music came up through the atrium many evenings. The last night a different steward closed doors between the elevators and the hall, which made a world of difference. Wish that had been done days before., Being upgraded to a bigger cabin with a balcony outweighed it. Stewards were great.
