Let me begin by saying that I am a big fan of Norwegian Cruise line. I have taken several cruises over the years and have sailed with NCL on many of them, so much so that I currently have five future cruise certificates. The following cruise review is plainly my opinion about the Norwegian Breakaway and is out there just to help both cruisers and the cruise line to hopefully understand and possibly adjust issues that in my opinion are fair and honest assessments of the cruise our family took from December 7th - 14th 2014.
Upon laying my eyes on the Norwegian Breakaway while in Nassau Bahamas in December of 2013 my family and I knew that she would be the ship we would sail on for our next cruise vacation. The Breakaway was one of the largest ships that I ever had seen. The appearance of her balcony rooms from afar were very enticing as were her water slides that were visible from virtually everywhere. Shortly after we booked our 2014 cruise on the Breakaway I began to research our ship and plan our cruise. I noticed that the balconies on the mini-suites seemed rather small compared to other ships we have sailed on. But, with everything the Breakaway had to offer I thought that this was not a deal breaker.
The Breakaway offers 29 dining venues most of which are an additional surcharge.. We opted to stick with the traditional dining options as we would be traveling with our 14 year old daughter.
Our cabin was of average size but on the Breakaway I believe it is the same size as a balcony stateroom. The balcony was very small and not what we were use to. The bathroom was a good size but the rain shower head was just a simple shower head. The cabin was clean and good for what it was needed for but not a great place to relax and unwind. If I were to chose again I would have to look at the large balcony rooms as I really enjoy the balconies during my cruise.
