My wife, Lori, and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and me turning 60. After having a bad experience with RCCL we decided to try NCL. This was our 8th cruise. I had read a lot about the Breakaway and since we enjoy the larger ships, decided to give NCL a try, and are we glad we did! First, embarkation was a little slow, had to wait in line over a half hour, longest wait the entire cruise. Our room was a mini-suite on deck 8, room 8120. The room was a little small but the bathroom was the biggest I've ever had on a ship. The shower itself was huge! I am a big guy, 6'3" and 300 lbs., and I could actually close the door on the shower and I was surprised by all the jets. We got the extra large balcony, what a treat; 2 lounge chairs, 2 additional chairs, large table. You could have had a party out there!

We purchased prior to sailing the Ultimate Beverage and Dining packages. I probably could have done without the beverage package since I didn't realize that I can't drink like I use to, although I tried! I think my wife got her money's worth!!! The dining package was well worth it. I don't think I would ever sail without it! We ate breakfast and lunch everyday at O'Sheehan's. The food was great and it was never crowded. It think a lot of people thought it was just a bar. We had dinner twice at Cagney's. It was the best filet I've ever had. I thought it might be a fluke so I got it a second time and it was even better! We ate outside at Moderno's. I had to try everything and it was well worth it. As a bonus we were treated to a beautiful sunset. We also had dinner at Teppanyaki's. It was both delicious and entertaining. La Cucina gave you enough food for two nights but it was delicious. Le Bistro was one of our favorites. The service was outstanding at all of the restaurants and bars. Our first dinner was at the Spiegal Tent. The show was mesmerizing which made it hard to eat and watch at the same time.

The entertainment was also outstanding. My wife went to see Rock of Ages and loved it. She said she sang along with the whole show. My wife loves Howl at the Moon and talked me into going. I'm glad she did. I had a lot of fun. My favorite place was O'Sheehan's Bar. Being an Eagles' fan, it was great watching football 3 nights along with the World Series. We enjoyed freezing in the Ice Bar. It was a unique experience.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Large Balcony

Cabin M6

The room was a little smaller than I expected for a mini-suite but was adequate. The bathroom and balcony made up for it.
