This is our second NCL cruise in the Mediterranean and our tenth cruise overall. We travelled with two other couples. The ship was good, the rooms were very nice, the room steward was very good and the ports of call were great.
The dining experience was not good. Of our ten cruising experiences this was the worst. The average time in a dining room was 2 1/2 hours, the food was sometimes warm but never hot, the selection was mediocre and the services was not good. We tried three of the upscale restaurants for $15 or $30 extra per person and were again very disappointing. During dinner at one of the upscale restaurants included some very loud music came on over the PA system. It was so loud we could not talk with the person next to us and I had to stop my ears to prevent a headache. The response from the restaurant manager was that the music was controlled by the bridge and there was nothing she could do about it. Dinner at another restaurant, where the service was very slow and it appeared there was not enough service staff, was interrupted for ten minutes by a parade of food service people dancing to Latin music while banging pots and pans. The loudest pot banging was by someone who had absolutely no sense of rhythm. Maybe those forty people in the parade could have prepared and served instead of dancing.
This is the first cruise I have been on that had no laundry facilities for the customers. The ship does offer laundry service but at an extremely high price. There must have been many complaints because half way through the cruise the staff offered a special price of $29.00 per bag, better than the $72.00 per bag we calculated for the individual item price.
