After reading some of the posted reviews for the Eurodam, I wonder if we were just unlucky, but I don't think so.

But first the good. The food was excellent, without exception. I am not a buffet person, especially after being in Vegas, but I looked forward to lunch in the buffet every day. We had some really excellent meals in the main restaurant, and they were never less than good. The basic organisation - safety, getting on and off the ship, including embarkation and disembarkation, pre booking tours on-line, were also good. The optional tours were good - we did something in every port, and apart from being bored in Boston, and you can't blame HA for that, had a great time. The entertainment was OK - and this is our third cruise (first with HA) so we can compare (to P&O and Princess). In essence, its always a mixed bag, and how could they keep everyone happy all the time. You like some and not others. The major comment re entertainment was lack of space - get there early or in many cases, no room. We had good service from the bar staff, and from those in the "add-on" services like photography. The laundry service was excellent.

And then the bad. We, being Australian and novice tippers, decided to pre tip the cabin staff to ensure a good service. Big mistake - we had to beg for service after that, if we could find them. They were pleasant enough, but basically missing in action. We wondered if they were just over worked. A request for ice in the cabin had to be repeated three times. "Fruit platters in the cabin" - not on our cruise.
