Sail Date: September 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Rome (Civitavecchia)
Wow.where to sum it up briefly 5 STAR Luxury, 5 STAR Rooms, 5 Star Food and 5 Star Service. This was our experience from the last 2 weeks. This was my 2nd cruise(1st was with Norwegian/Alaska) and this was my husband's 1st cruise and we walked away from the SHIP with having already put a deposit down for next year with Celebrity. Here is how everything I can remember as I am still on vacation from last nite.

Airport; Extremely efficient staff met us as airport(we booked transfer to port thru Celebrity). The price is expensive $92 per person but the convenience was worth it. We reached Rome at 8am and by 9am we were on our transfer to Civitavecchia Port) and on the ship by 11am. The embarkation went very smoothly with no hiccups.

Service; Impeccable, you could not turn around without a helpful professional staff waiting to help with anything you needed. The staff was extremely professional. They are clearly trained and focused on their quality of work. More

Food; Delicious, we felt as if we were going out for fine dining every nite, Dessert(although I don't have a sweet tooth, I was impressed with the quality and freshness of the desserts. Speciality restaurants well worth the extra service charge(Tuscan Grill and Qsine-$45 per person). Drinks; Never watered down and anywhere you were they were ready to ask if you needed a drink, you never had to go looking for a waitress/bartender.

Excursions; Extremely well organized and appropriate number of participants in each tour. Locations that the ship had for excursions choices were perfect. Less

Cabin review:

The room was very spacious, especially the balcony. We were both able to recline our chairs all the way to fully enjoy and lay out on the balcony. Our room was kept immaculate by the room attendants and were quick to respond to any questions/needs. The bed is extremely comfortable with pillows just as perfect. Our room was right next elevator but we never were disturbed by any noise, but made it very convenient to get around the ship. We were few floors above Reflection theatre(front of ship). We need feel any extra movement as the stablizers did a great job.

Port and Shore Excursions

The Plaka Walking Tour

Bus took us to bottom of acroplis but the tour guide spent so much time talking no one had time to walk around, then bus took us to Plaka, again after walking thru santorini and mykonos the shopping was the same with narrow streets filled with shops and restaurants. I would recommend take the Acroplis tour instead.

Blue Mosque

Over-rated, lines extremely long and you only spend about 10 min as we were rushed by mosque staff as it was almost prayer time. This could be skipped as it a typical of a mosque just on a larger scale. Bring head scarf as now it is mandatory for all women to keep head covered. Carpet extremely plush inside so your not stepping on bare floors(shoes have to be off).

Hagia Sofia

Beautiful architecture = long walk but worth the hike to see the interior that has rememnants of islam and christianity in 1 room. Be a little careful with bags in main square too many ppl around. excursion was very well organized

Bus drive to site was more interesting after Istanbul it started to look the same, especially the Grand Bazar. Unless your looking to buy alot most ppl looked bored walking around just trying to kill time to catch the bus back to the ship.

Simply Gorgeous - even my husband said that was his favorite. The city is right on the waterfront and just gorgeous little alley ways with shops and restaurants facing the ocean. Water were crystal clear just as it seemed in Santorini. We took the bus transfer to town($8) and walked around on our own and were able to kill 3 hrs just doing our own exploring thru the town...there is no way you can get lost as all the small streets meet up.....

Pompeii Walking Tour

Excellent tour however you need more then the time alloted to see the ruins. A lot of walking definately dress in very comfortable walking shoes. Definately worth the hike and heat.

Oia Village

More then enough time to walk around, unless you want to do some real shopping. narrow streets wear comfortable shoes as the roads are not flat.

Oia Wine Tasting

Just the view from this site is worth taking the tour, the wine is not exactly what one would like if they enjoy a good glass of wine. The time spent was adequate to take a few pics, finish your glass and then back on the bus
