Beautiful Eclipse and crossing the Arctic Circle

Sail Date: August 2012
Destination: Baltic Sea
Embarkation: Southampton
I can say in a few words how we feel now having unpacked and done some reflecting.

Embarkation - efficient even though it was very busy
Cabin - clean, spacious for two but I wouldn't want three in there as storage would be tight. Bathroom was lovely with a shower as good as many hotels.
Food - Oceanview had a good selection, almost continuous fayre throughout the day. Cheese selection was very poor by British standards and it was a shame that waffles and pancakes could not be 'cooked to order' as the toast was. But give the numbers of mouths to feed they did an excellent job. The waiters in Oceanview are amazing! So cheerful, singing, joking - even at breakfast . Being greeted by a singing and dancing female attendant at 8 am eager to sterilise your hands on entry so you don't feel grumpy is a sight we will remember for a long time.
Food - Murano was worth every dime/penny. Very, very attentive and charming staff so no minute left for peaceful reflection, but More rather that than being ignored. A credit to Celebrity.
Food - QiSine, hype over substance. Lovely waiters let down by their Chef. Never again.
Cafe al Bacio - great coffee, nice nibbles. The coffee elsewhere on the ship is really poor so a vist here is a must for that shot of caffeine.
Much has been said about entertainment generally on Eclipse and we didn't partake so I can't add to this sorry.
The ports were interesting and a good choice. We took several walks from the ship and did a few excursions . The most successful and enjoyable one was The Faroe's with 62' N , a tour company. Olden was a good opportunity for a 15km walk to stretch our legs.
We place this cruise above Alaska for the Port's experience and the journey through the Fjords but acknowledge that nothing quite beats the Hubbard Glacier. We did see whales and dolphins this time, more so than on the Aladka cruise though.
I agree with a previous reviewer that at times the ship was going so slowly we felt there was time for another port though.
Eclipse is a beautiful ship and is kept spotless by the great staff. The grassed area and glass show are lovely additions. The wifi is expensive and needs consideration by Celebrity, it must be a real money maker for them, wrongly so.
Most annoying thing? Poor coffee in the buffet , poor cheese choice and that awful piped music everywhere ! Come on Celebrity these are easily fixed! Less

Golden Circle

Good tour worth doing but guide, once again was not an 'expert ' so could only provide lightweight information and a lot of personal opinion.

Krysuvik Geothermal Field

Definitely need to do a tour here as the city has little to offer. The tours were great with very interesting sites however although the guide was lovely we felt her detailed knowledge on sites and Iceland in general was sadly lacking. Very little technical knowledge and facts sounded like they had come straight off wikipedia and they did not stand up to further questioning. One or two 'nature' statements were actually incorrect.
