The food was awful. I would compare the steak to a Waffle House steak. The wait time is ridiculous. Waiting 45 min for your appetizer to come was a normal night. Unless you’re drinking water, refilling your drink does not come without having to ask for it. The wait is so long, two nights we didn’t wait for dessert to come. The staff seems overrun. If you want to eat decent food, then get the dining package. If not, set your expectations low. We complained, and was offered a tour of where all the terrible food is made....no thanks. We were happy with our cabin. It was an inside cabin, but it accommodated our family of 4 just fine. A little tight when the pull out bed is out, but otherwise good. The ship itself is gorgeous and very clean. A fellow passenger mentioned to us that Carnival’s ship (which is much smaller in size) with less passengers, had the same amount of crew on board. If I had to do over, I would’ve done a different vacation. Read Less

Great ship! Very friendly crew! Cabin numbe# 8321, strong odor of sewage outside of cabin for the duration of cruise. The dining was top notch, the entertainment needs a overhaul, activities on board are great, was very impressed with the level of care by all departments, just outstanding service and attention to detail! One of the best ships and crew you will experience! Traveled with family, embarkation was a breeze very pleased, a little hiccup with disembarkation but over all a breeze! St. KITTS Is A MUST SEE, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Bahamas, Paradise Island, if you travel there on your own you will need a day pass to experience the resort. St. Thomas the time in port was not enough time to experience the full beauty of the island and to take special trip to St John's for a bonus! Another port of call added to this trip would be awesome! Read Less

Royal caribbean’s harmony of the seas was the most horrible vacation ever!! This “vacation” was a waste of my money, caused me stress, and i will never go on rc again. And up until this point rc was my preferred cruise ship (i took rc on all cruises except 1). But never again!! FOOD AND SERVICE: We couldn’t get regular dining so we had to get my time dining. We made reservations for every night weeks before we got on the ship. The first 2 nights we arrived early only to wait 30 minutes to be seated. The service staff seemed surprised that so many people were there (even though we had all made previous reservations). So 3rd night comes and the wait is 45 min!! All 3 nights they were seating those in the no reservations line just as quickly as those of us who had reservations. I hate this ship!!! The food in the main dining room was barely edible! There were some nights i had to struggle to find anything remotely decent to eat. Windjammer is worse than the crappiest buffet i’ve ever seen! I felt ripped off the entire cruise! I planned on trying jamie’s italian and chops grille but after the horrible food you served in every single dining area i was never going to pay $100+ per meal in one of your over priced and i’m sure sub-par “take my money and run” expensive restaurants. EXCURSIONS: Excursions overpriced for what you got. And zip line in haiti - that much money for 1 quick trip? It’s robbery! Excursions were too full. St. Maarten snuba excursion was fun and well run. Basically bc not many people want to do snuba so i guess royal caribbean can’t jam and stuff as many people as possible into that excursion in an attempt to make the most money!! Haiti snorkel safari - i got kicked and hit so many times bc there were 55 people on our boat all trying to look at the same little crab!!!! It was horrible!! ENTERTAINMENT: I was excited about 1887 ice show...a love story one paris ...until the cylons from battlestar galactica arrived!!!! This was the most horrible “entertainment” ever and the ice skaters made so many mistakes that i cringed every time someone made the tiniest jump bc they were all falling!!! CABIN: Our cabin had no soap or anything!! I had to ask for hand soap!!! And there were no little bottles or anything. Our wall soap dispenser had no soap in it for the first 2 days then all of a sudden it had soap. Like the attendant forgot. But no other soaps? And the dispenser button was broken and no one cared. Towels and washcloths were threadbare and the worst i’ve ever seen!! The sorry excuse for towel animals was laughable. We only had 3 of them (on a 7 night cruise?!?) and they were small, unimaginative and i wondered if they were going to “phone it in” that poorly then why even bother. VIRTUAL BALCONY: Our virtual balcony (or what i call a complete waste of money) didn’t have sound (like we were promised) and had video problems too! There were no outstanding crew members. Service was so bad that this was the first time i didn’t bc tip extremely well. I actually went down to guest services (long lines there too!!) and told them i didn’t want to leave any tip at all. This “vacation” was a waste of my money, caused me stress, and i will never go on rc again. And up until this point rc was my preferred cruise ship (i took rc on all cruises except 1). Definitely, avoid RC excursions; ABSOLUTE BEST excursion in St. Maartin is the small group sail with randomwind.com Avoid Haiti at all costs -- the beaches are like swimming in a disgusting pond; their were wild dogs coming off the mountains into the RC eating area; as you were eating lunch, locals were picking through the trash; food was awful. The food on RC has gone from 5 star down to 0 stars. The selection and taste of the food is awful. Air conditioning aboard the ship, but especially in the rooms, was non-existence. Elevator service is awful as well - be prepared to take the stairs. Bar service has declined as well. Due to the fact that gratuities are prepaid with the beverage packages, the bar wait staff is not attentive at all. Be careful of your onboard accounts -- this is the second time RC has tried to double-charge for gratuities that were pre-paid in advance. Read Less

Sorry for the novel, but it was necessary. We had high expectations going into this trip. We have travelled previously on Carnival Cruise Lines (out of Australia) and found them to be okay, not great, not bad either, lots of kids though, so a little busy. We were told by others that Royal Caribbean was better, that there were less kids and the quality was better. So, in our wisdom, we assumed that if we picked the biggest and the newest cruise ship that Royal Caribbean had, we should have the best trip of our life. Sadly, not to be. I actually had to start writing a list while on board because the issues were just that many. In no particular order, this is just some of the things that we experienced on our trip: * The Fine Line - The main headline show was cancelled on the second night of the cruise and then we were told that it would not be performed again for the rest of the cruise (technical difficulties - which actually means they sacked the Director and couldn't get it to work). * Rock Climbing Wall - I don't understand the point of having two climbing walls if you only ever have one open at a time, and then leave people waiting hours in the hot sun for their turn. And don't fall too soon or you are sent back to the end of the line (and I mean a foot from the ground). Quickest rock climb in history. * Food availability - There are loads of placed to eat on the boat, some of them are even included in the price (not many though). What I didn't like, is that between the hours of 3pm and 5pm (approx), there were 2 places to eat. Seriously, there are 6,000 people on that boat, in what reality is that going to work? The lines were crazy and the food in those two locations wasn't good anyway. * The buffet - It was just okay, and I am being generous there. Carnival did it so much better. My kids rarely found anything to eat other than fried food and burgers. Surely you can do better than that. PS, your dessert buffet could also be better. * Silk Restaurant - I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I generally expect some variety in my evening meal. Not in that restaurant. Every night it was the same menu, except maybe one or two changes max. By the middle of the cruise I couldn't stomach eating there again (and we checked the menu every night). Really disappointing. Carnival didn't recycle their menu on the cruises I was on. Dinner in the restaurants was an exciting event (especially with the entertainment they had). Dinner in Silk was rushed and boring. * Scheduled events - It's annoying when you plan your day around the printed schedule, and then find out that events that we clearly printed on the sheet, are not on. We turned up to a Martini making class to find a staff member who had no idea why we were there (us and the dozen other people who turned up). He had to call around for ten minutes to finally tell us that it was a printing error and could we come back in 5 hours! * Cup Cake making class - Again, we planned our day around an activity that we had prebooked, to then get a message stuck under the door to say it's been bought forward to 9am. I'm not awake at 9am! I don't want to make cupcakes with my kids at 9am on my holiday. * Water pressure - Maybe it was just our luck, but we had issues with water pressure. One minute it was fine, the next it was gone, and then fine again. * Guest services - I don't understand why you give guests the option of ringing through to guest services when you have no intention of every, and I mean EVER answering the phone. I tried so many times on the 7 days, and never got through. * Noise - Note to all other travellers, we booked two adjoining rooms overlooking central park on level 14, bad idea! We did not take into account the fact that every morning, and I mean EARLY, the lovely staff would set up the pool deck for the day. And my setting up I mean skull dragging all the deck chairs across the ground. The noise was unreal. Pick a lower deck for your stateroom! * Inward facing cruise ship - Clearly we were wrong when we assumed that bigger was better. It is not, in fact it was way worse. I'm not sure why they designed it like that, but the Harmony of the Seas is an inward facing cruise ship, being that it all seems to be focused toward the middle of the ship. It doesn't open out to give you a view of the sea. And even on the top level, 15 and 16, if you want to view the water you can only do it through glass (unless you are right at the back of the ship). It's like being in a goldfish bowl. It was weird. And then, no doubt because of the size of the ship, you could barely feel it moving. It was honestly not like we were on a ship at all. We should have just stayed in a resort on land, it would have been the same. * Technical Difficulties - Clearly they had "technical difficulties" with the Fine Line performance, but they seemed to have technical difficulties with a lot of their performances. Perhaps they should look at that. * Quality control - Being on holidays is fun, relaxing and enjoyable, but not so much when you find something 'alien' at the bottom of your Pina Colada. When I made known to staff that this 'alien' item was found in the bottom of my drink they really couldn't have cared less. Even when I mentioned that the drink in question was from a mobile cart on the pool deck, and that the guy scooped it strait from a cooler into my cup (therefore there would be an assumption that the item in question would have originated from the cooler), and that they should perhaps stop serving other people from the cooler; they told me to wait in line for 20 minutes at guest services and tell them about it. The cooler way empty by then! Oh well. * Hallways outside the staterooms - There was not a moment on that cruise where there was not empty food trays or empty drink containers littering the hallways. Even at one point we had the misfortune of walking down the hall to our room to find that another guest had dumped a dirty nappy (and believe me, it was a #2), outside their door! Who does that! The smell lingered. * Inconsistent drinks - You would assume that if you ordered a drink in one bar, and then went to another that you would get the same drink, and certainly the same alcohol content. Alas, it was not the case. Tip for other travellers, find the bar that serves the most alcohol in your drink - believe me, there is a difference. * Billing - Then, the best part, I opted to pay for my account at the end of the cruise (for numerous reasons, but mainly because I was travelling with a "Travel Card", which did not have my name printed on it therefore Royal Caribbean would not allow me to attach the card to my account. So, when I went to pay for my account on the last day, with said card - which is a debit card - not credit card, I paid the amount in full. Then surprise surprise, we found out a few days later that Royal Caribbean had put a hold on my Travel Card for the full amount of the bill that I had paid the day before we left. So, I paid twice. I had to call them three times (to get three different answers) before I finally had to call my own bank (in another country) to get them to release the funds back. I ended up having to get Royal Caribbean to email me the release document to then email to my bank, all because of their error. Which the guy admitted on the phone. They should never have placed a hold on an account that had already been paid in full - after the cruise ended! Honestly, I could go on, but lets not. In summary, bigger is not better. You can't build relationships with staff members and feel truly welcomed and valued when you are travelling with 6,500 other people. It's too big and doesn't feel like a cruise ship. But then if your intention is just to be able to say you went on the biggest cruise ship in the world, then go for it. Then book a smaller ship next time and really enjoy yourself. Read Less

We have cruised RCCL many times and enjoyed every cruise, including this one but do feel the food has definitely went down in quality. The crew were very friendly but feel RCCL is pushing there people to SELL,SELL. I think 40.00 for 3 short games of bingo is a little steep. The surcharge in Mexican restaurant was 23.00 per person. WOW! The aquatic show was terrific. Grease was really nice and we did enjoy. The ice skating show was good but I didn’t care for the theme. We didn’t care for the Columbus show but all the actors did a great job. The Harmony offers a lot for children of all ages. I feel they need to do something about people holding seats for the shows. We always arrive early so we had to problem but for guest sending 2 people to hold as many as 12 seats is so rude and unfair to other travelers. Their family wouldn’t show until the last few minutes while others are there looking for seats. Read Less

The Harmony of the Seas is a beautiful Ship with numerous activities. The seas days flew by due to the amount and variety of activities. Food was great and staff was friendly. No complaints here. We have travelled the Caribbean extensively and at this stage the Ship is far more important than the ports of call. This ship met our expectations. Cabin was roomy and comfortable. We had an ocean view balcony with plenty of room for the two of us. You would think embarkation would be a nightmare with 6,000 passengers but like any of the Royal Caribbean cruises it was fast and efficient. Norwiegan you could learn something from these people....Easy access on and off the ship during ports of call and we at no time were met with long lines. If you go on this cruise and hit Cozumel take 45 minutes of your day before arriving and take in the shopping presentation by James Dill. Well worth it and he pays for your cab downtown. Read Less

We went on this cruise as a extended family - 20 people. Being together was wonderful but... At every port/excursion there were problems. Won't ever sail with Royal Caribbean again- EVER!! The staff was friendly and the main dinning room waiter was amazing. Had to wait in line for every on-board activity, bar, and buffet, everything. Pool lounge chairs were packed together so close that the chair on both sides touched yours. Food on the buffet was cold and over cooked. Cabin was nice - we had a balcony. Air conditioning didn't seem to keep the room cool. I call RC about the beverage package and was role could purchase package on board for specific days... turns out not true...due to the incorrect info the package cost 30% more which was a few hundred dollars more. We tipped the stateroom staff and waiters independently due to their great service but resent the daily charge for gratuity added to our room. Again, it was a few hundred dollars for the 7 day cruise. Read Less

I booked a Christmas Cruise for my family and in-laws and this is my first time on a Royal Caribbean (been on about 12 cruises previously). I do not normally write reviews or take the time, but I have to based on my experience. Royal Caribbean has a system designed to take you for every penny they can. It started when we went to book the airfare. They quoted me a price and when I called back three days late;r it doubled. When I was quoted the price for the beverage package, the next day when I booked it, the price went up $100 per person. The thing is that in order to speak with someone on pricing or anything else, you have to provide a reservation number (booking number) and through that they track your activity. This held true for about six other couples we spoke with on the boat. To top it off. They nickel and dime you on everything and don't expect to get your money back if you "pre-pay." I was told that in order to reserve the specialty restaurants, I had to pre-pay on my credit card to hold the reservations. I was also told that for some reason if we needed to cancel it while on the boat, I would be reimbursed. My two young children were ill during the last two days and I had to cancel three of the six people for a specialty restaurant reservation. I was told not to worry and that I was being reimbursed. However, when I went on my television to see, I was only re-imbursed for one of the three. I spent two hours on the phone while on my cruise fighting with guest services and their reply was I'm mistaken. They were adamant that I only pre-paid for four and to check my records when I got home. We ended the call with just that. I would check my records; credit card statement and the emails confirming my reservation when I returned. I was correct and called their "Royal Guest Experience" Department for what I was told would be a simple fix. It was not and I spent another hour fighting to get my money back after they provided me three different reasons why I was incorrect. I emailed them their own email confirmation after I had to fight to get an email address and only then (after waiting on hold an additional 30 minutes) I was I told I will be getting a refund. It is all part of a system because had I not checked and re-checked and argued, they would have kept my $100. Oh and on the last day, I received a notice that I didn't return a pool towel and that I can keep the towel as a souvenir. Only that they were charging my $25 for the towel; a towel I never had. I spent 30 minutes of my time walking to three different areas of the ship (because they had no phone number) to confirm that the records were incorrect and I returned my towels each day. Royal thieves... Cruising has certainly changed from years prior and Royal Caribbean have mastered the art of maximize their revenue; on you the consumer. Don't trust them and if you still decide to cruise with them, book things the first time you call (they track your calls and activity; raising the prices on you when they have you committing) and definitely do not pre-pay anything. Even the drink packages. They offered better deals when the ship was at sea. Awful experience... Read Less

We have been traveling with Royal Caribbean for the last ten years. We were really excited and eager to travel on the biggest ship in the world, and we were sure that we could have an excellent vacation considering our previous experiences with Royal Caribbean, but unfortunately it was the opposite turning this trip into a complete stress to the point that we tried to leave the ship in Puerto rico and return to US by flight but for Christmas Holidays the price of the air ticket was extremelly high and difficult to find, the routes available to travel back was between 9 to 16 hrs to Miami. I can summarize my experience traveling in the Harmony of the Sea as the worst cruise experience ever. I do not recommend this cruise because of: Poor cleanliness, poor Customer Service, poor quality food, poor maintenace on the ship Terrible experience on the Labadee Private Island of Royal caribeann, the buffet was served in open areas and you have to eat with the flies. On the side of the beach that we were, the beach has a lot of corals. When you enter the beach you have a lot of corals that injure your feet and not one of the royal caribbean personnel tells you about this, but they have awnings to rent for $ 50 in those beaches, where it is almost impossible to enjoy and relax in the beach. We have been cruising with Royal Caribbean for 17 years now, our first cruise being on Voyager of the Seas in 2000. We have always been very impressed with everything Royal Caribbean has been able to achieve and offer on their cruise ships, that is until our recent cruise on Harmony of the Seas. There are just so many things wrong with this ship and our cruise ended in a huge disappointment for us. Pre-cruise customer service is about non existent – I e-mailed Royal Caribbean (RC) on 20 September 2017 about our concerns regarding our cabin allocation (yes, they put you where they want, no choice here). We are a middle-aged couple and having quiet accommodation is key for our enjoyment of any cruise. But in all their wisdom RC decided to put us right beside the elevators, usually one of the noisiest spots due to all the pedestrian traffic, that in spite of them requesting our ages at booking time. I received an e-mail response exactly 9 days later, unapologetic informing me that the cruise leaves tomorrow (30 September) and to make a cabin change is completely impossible at this late stage. Wow! Our second big disappointment was our cabin – and I am referring to this as a cabin as there is nothing stately about it. We took possession at 13:00, exactly the time that was continually announced via the intercom system, and posted very clearly on the door leading to the passageways. Our cabin looked ready for occupation, with everything like soaps, towels, etc. in place, but on a second look, we were horrified! The cabin was very dirty, hairs and dust in multiple locations, dirty finger marks on the walls, stained and dirty carpet, excrement spots above the toilet, toothpaste on the back splash above the sink, and too many others to mention here. There was even a used floss stick lying on the nightstand. In addition, when putting on my shoes one morning, I caught a movement from the corner of my eye; I saw it go under the bed, and after about 10 minutes of hunting and turning the beds upside down, I found it; a huge COCKROACH! Thirdly, we found out to our dismay that this is now a party boat! Any peace and quiet on the deck, no; sitting in central park and expecting to enjoy the rustling sounds of the fresh ocean breeze through the trees, not at all, as the aneurism-inducing loud music spilled down from the deck, shattering the serenity; going into the cabin for a quiet nap, no go, as the music penetrates through the sealed window. Going for a peaceful evening in the hot tub in the “adult-only” solarium, no way, as there are usually some band/music activities that is dreadfully disturbing. One evening we tried the hot tub excursion again, only to find 5 of the 7 hot tubs closed (the usual case) for no apparent reason, and the other two filled with noisy, dancing and drinking passengers (if you are drinking and dancing in a hot tub, you are missing the point of a hot tub completely). I was lucky enough to be able to use a hot tub only one evening undisturbed, after navigating my way through the empty glasses and alcohol containers littered like a sea all around the tub. The solarium area is designated as “adult only”, with children below 16 years of age not allowed, but every day we saw multiple children in this area, even unattended. We observed everything, from dishes not washed clean and filthy dirty walls in the Grand Dinning Room, tears in the seats, a broken tap in one of the washrooms running for days, and plenty of the transparent covers in the roof of the the solarium torn and missing. Maintenance is clearly no priority on this ship, which is in very stark contrast with our experience on Allure of the Seas a few years ago, where everything was absolutely perfect. Sadly, the demographics of the type of passengers RC is trying to attract to this ship has shifted from what we have experienced on their other ships in the past, and if you are a respectable person, middle-aged, or a senior, you will most likely not enjoy cruising on this ship at all. But if you like filthy cabins with biological material from the previous occupants littered everywhere, hunting the occasional cockroach, nerve-wracking music and noise, partying and drinking people all over and dirty dinning areas, you are going to absolutely love this ship. It is time for us to move to another cruise company that values the experience of their passengers and appreciates their loyalty, rather than focus on profit, as we have seen RC now does. The sad thing is, for every loyal customer RC loses, there is a long line of morons waiting to take that place. If you are Allured for a cruise on this ship, expecting an Oasis, you will likely find no Harmony, and realize that cruising with RC is not always a Symphony. We bid you farewell Royal Caribbean! They will try to oversell you on everything with this cruise. Everything is an opportunity to price gouge you and get more of your money. The cruise was overcrowded with 6,000 passengers. This was our first cruise and we honestly became bored after the first few days. All of the day-time activities were just more opportunities to sell you merchandise and future cruises. The best thing about the cruise was the three shows we saw. Grease, the Ice Show, and the Aqua Theater were awesome. Everything else was subpar. The staff mostly seemed apathetic and did not smile. Very few staff spoke English clearly, which made it extremely difficult to communicate requests. The shore excursions are extremely expensive for what you get. We've seen much better in Europe traveling on our own itinerary for a fraction of the cost. Beaches were so crowded in Labadee, Haiti. The pools were always overcrowded on the ship. Food service was slow. We will not do another cruise on this ship and possibly just won't do another cruise at all. We've had so many better vacations. Read Less

We have always loved RC and decided to try their largest ship ....having last cruised with them in March we were really looking forward to it but hadn't expected such drastic changes in such a short time. It didn't start of well and through no fault of RC our 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise was cut to 4 days due to hurricane Irma and was changed to western Caribbean with just 1 stop at Cozumel but we were doing back to back cruises so that meant a repeat week 2 . This was acceptable but when we finally got onboard our junior suite was far from ready missing bathrobe, toiletries, towels and a dirty bath/shower and filthy kettle! These were put right but what a downmarket change only 3 starters and 3 main courses but extra if you wanted steak or lobster etc...of course there are lots of (pay for) specialty restaurants! Speciality coffee in a 'sort of' diner' now served in cardboard mugs, very thin and useless paper towels in public toilets ( where have warm fluffy towels gone), and no chocolates on your pillow at night! But by far the worst is there is only one lounge 'Dazzles' with a sea view and EVERY DAY it was closed for a private function .....that of course means more money for RC and the film crew must have paid bid bucks too cos the card room/library was closed for the 2 weeks as were various parts of the public spaces when they were filming but of course we only paid for a cruise ...we would have been better treated on a cargo ship Read Less

Elevators jammed pack with not a single inch to spare. Long lines for everything... Want a drink? Wait 20 minutes, there are 50 people waiting for one bar tender. This is pretty much what the entire experience was like. 6700 people is just too many for a cruise ship no matter how big it is. Dinner took over two hours. Everything on the ship costs extra-- and is very overpriced. Long hold times to make reservations or talk with guest services. Private Island was crowded- long wait times, up to 45 minutes for the 'tram' to take you to the beaches some of which are too far to walk to if you have kids. No late night dining- everything closes at 9 except for Pizza- which wasn't that great. Room service is no longer free- $7.99 "delivery charge" plus tax and tip so basically $10 if you want room service-- which again it took almost 75 minutes to get our order at 11pm... Read Less

We had to check it out, group of 4 Diamond Class cruisers. This cruise had all the makings of a GREAT trip, nice ship, good crew etc etc. The thousands of children on board absolutely ruined it, they were everywhere 24/7, in every bar, store, restaurant, open space, you name it, someone else's inparented child crying, screaming, climbing on furniture, being rude, disruptive........... I could go on and on... I put partial blame on the parents as always, parents aren't parents now, they think they are their child's friend, their children do not act as they should in public around adults.... The biggest problem being that there is no retreat from those little unparented children. not a single restaurant or bar is adults only. I blame Royal Caribbean for THAT!!!!!! With 36 bars on the ship, you can't make at least two of them Adults Only?!?!?!?!? I was not able to relax or decompress at all, I returned to work more stressed than than when I left it, total waste of my vacation time and my money. As of now, this is my last and final cruise with Royal Caribbean, and I will never again book a vacation that is not Adults Only due to this horrific week. By Wednesday I had retreated to my room for the duration of the week to avoid the unparented children and others.... I am disgusted that I sit here stressed from vacation, imagine sitting in a daycare facility all day with the nonstop crying and screaming...... Even Disney Ships have Adult Only areas. And what kind of parents would brings strollers, babies and children into a bar at 11 PM at at night?!?!?!? Those parents are the downfall of our society with no parental skills. Read Less

We had high hopes but what a dissapointement. The queueing and waiting for everything was unbearable and so was the selling! The ship is lovely, the staff were very good. It was clean. The food was not good. The shows were very good eventually. We booked all the shows months before and when we boarded they told us it had all got erased so had to rebook them all. What was left that is! And at later times we wanted as we had a going child with us. There is far too many people on board as whenever we went to the upper buffet there was never any tables free. Also they keept trying to get us to go to the restaurants that you pay more for. I explained to them we have paid thousands to eat in this restaurant already and here is where we will eat! We booked a few excersions that were very good but the cost was on another planet. We visited a few countries but they are only private beaches owned by RC and everything costs a fortune. $9 for a coconut. The whole trip felt cheap and not the thousands we paid for it. They just want your money! Read Less

What others should know before traveling on Royal Caribbean - Harmony of the Seas (we traveled on 8/12/17 cruise): 1. Ship - ship is beautiful, boardwalk area, central park concepts are amazing! 2. Cabins - We had 2 cabins (1) 10-721 balcony faces the boardwalk. If you're a light sleeper like I am, i don't recommend these cabins (which we were never told!) music from night show noise plays through midnight then starts up again every morning around 8:30 AM. other than this issue the room has plenty of storage space and bathroom was roomy considering standard room size(2) 11-427 2nd cabin was inside cabin was also roomy but with less storage (??). 3. Dining - This to me is the MOST important aspect of our cruises and we found the food to be mediocre. We had breakfast in main dining room (served up to 10am) no omelette or egg stations, only 1 pancake station; breakfast buffet at Windjammer's typically was slammed & under staffed. Staff couldn't keep up with amount of people. But this was only place serving a "hot" breakfast buffet - then we found only ONE fried egg station for entire restaurant, bagels were stale lox was not fresh. Dinner we had to return main entrees to kitchen as food not prepared or didn't taste good. one night my husband returned 3 entrees! Our waiter was AMAZING very patient and polite - but kitchen was not his fault and we gave him extra tip for his kindness! If you're booking specialty restaurant book prior as reservations book up quickly. By midweek we couldn't be accommodated... 4. Entertainment - Book online once you're booked as shows sellout. We weren't able to book the comedy show and walked up once show started and were screamed at by someone telling us we couldn't walk in - very rude! 5. Service - i felt staff was UNDER staffed for amount of people on ship and their general customer service poor (except for our waiter and room steward). Drinks with alcohol were all measured no deviation. We bought drink package and my husband's card was not working correctly but the waiters still charged drinks instead of telling us we had to stand in guest service long lines 4 different times for them to correct our bill and card! 6. Ports/Excursions - Nassau we didn't get off ship as shipped docked at 7:30 AM and left at 2:30 PM! for such short time to us it wasn't worth the hassle! St. Thomas we did catamaran excursion to st. john and that was really nice. St. Kitts we drove to a local beach but food was crazy expensive! Overall I don't recommend this ship if you're expecting good food for the amount of money paid. The evening shows were good but not worth what we paid...We sailed NCL Getaway and Epic and find the food quality to be MUCH better and friendlier service! The shows on NCL are not as great but I rather a more pleasant experience with food and service over an one hour show... Read Less

**I will be posting this same review to all possible review sites as well in hopes that other people will be able to understand my experience.** I always thought that Royal Caribbean (hell i'm a platinum member) was better than Carnival Cruises but man has Royal Caribbean lost its touch since my last voyage. As the trip went on, I made a list of all the issues and problems I had on the cruise ship. Things that seem like missed opportunity from a Cruise line I use to consider my favorite. I will not be traveling on Royal Caribbean again for a long time. Here is why: -Blood stained sheets under the pillow that had been bleached but were a gross site to see. -Our houseKeeping lady was THE WORST i have ever had. She was rude, condescending and when our soap in the shower ran out, she just filled it with water and made the excuse that " she couldn't open it and change the soap". She also constantly messed up my Girlfriends name calling her Adrian. Her name was NOT adrian. She was so rude that on the last day we asked her not to come int our room at all and just put up the do not enter sign. She should be fired. She really should. - At the beginning of the cruise we tried to change out dining options from my time to the second seating at 8:30pm. You would think this is an easy task. We are both native English speakers and brought papers to explain what we wanted. It took 3 dinning staff and two guest service members to final solve our issue and it took them less than 30 seconds once they understood what we wanted. This was a TWO day process out of a & day cruise. - The dining room food is pretty much buffet food but presented slightly better. On all my previous cruises I would d the dining in the dining room every night because I liked the quality of the food and they always had new things for me to try. On our first night at the diner we ordered our food and it was out and in our laps in less than 2 minutes. I'm not joking, less than two minutes. Im guessing they just heated it up or had a giant line of premade meals......kind of like a Buffet. The food was then very bland, it tasted the same as the buffet food but I had to sit in the diner for it and wait linger(not much longer) but longer. - The cruise we went on was holding something like 6407 people with a max capacity of 6410. So it was crowded and I will never go on a ship like this again with that many people. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE to find seating the the buffet and most of the time you had to fight like animals to get even a seat with other people. The elevators where a lost cause. It would take at least 10 minutes to get one and in that time it was faster to just walk to the floor you wanted to get to. Finally, the four small pools where way to small for the 6407 people on board. It was like getting in a pool full of a solid 50 or 60 people at once with so little room it was impossible to not get kicked in the face. - MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. I remember cruise ships trying to sell you stuff on board. It's their job, I get it. But EVERYTHING on this ship was a ploy to sell you somethings. Every on board program, even something a small as a trivia, asked to to buy something at the end like a t-shirt to show you did trivia aboard the ship. They had 42 channels on board the ship and 8 of them where selling you something on the ship. now for a little more of the picky stuff: - Our ports where fine, but we were emailed about a month before the cruise departed and told that out time in San Juan had been shortened from leaving at 4pm to leaving at 2pm. This was my favorite port and the shortest on the trip. The cruise line had no 'cruise port' here to sell you other stuff on land, it just lead directly into the city. The port we had to most time at was Labadee, a port run and owned 100% my royal Caribbean meaning everything was for their profit. I don't think that a coincidence, and if it is, it's a very convenient one. - This one really pissed me off at the port. Okay, so we had an excursion that left at 10:00 am (actually left at 10:40am, the dock wasnt big enough for the boats needed to take us to our excursions.) When we got back we got off the boat immediately went to get some food that buffet food but brought down on shore to people on the island. By the time we got there, the only food place open, was closing at 1:30. We were not the only excursion coming back at 1:30 ish, most of them were, meaning all the people who had been out all day could not come back to the island to eat, they had to get back on board the boat and then get back off the boat if they wanted food past 1:30 on a port where we were set to depart at 5:00pm. The excursions are also not allowed to feed you. I took a seat so my girlfriend could go up and get her food first(since it WAS CROWDED) and a father and about 6 year old son did the same, except the son stayed in the table and the dad went to the buffet. The Father finished first and went to sit back down, and when this 6 year old son went up to the line they pushed him away and told hims the buffet is closed. There was still food, but 1:30pm had hit and all the people waiting in a long line where sent away. I might be wrong, but this is SO RUDE. -Timing of 'things'. The buffet on the cruise closes lunch at 3pm and open for dinner at 5:30, it's a 2 and a half our gap with only paid and two free places open to eat. That's it. At San Juan when we were in port, the buffet stilled closed at 3pm and every got back of board at about 2:15 ish. This made a mad rush to the buffet full of what was probably half the boats population, I'm not even kidding. What does the buffet do? They close a side of the buffet till 5:30pm to prepare for dinner.... -To finish off this whole document, Ill just say that the entire staff on board was not as nice as they use to be. They almost use to be too nice and bend over backward for your needs, it always made me feel bad when they did it, but on this cruise, they don't move out of your way, they dont say sorry and if you are waiting in line, they WILL just kick you out with no regard. Like I said, I'm a platinum member, I liked royal Caribbean, but this was Terrible. I was going to go back through and fix some of my spelling, but I really dont think your worth any more of my time. I am going to give the one negative thing about the ship first. If you are traveling with a short but potty trained child, they are only allowed to play on the small baby slide in the diaper pool area. There are 2 small slides next to the diaper area that they can play in the water but can not go down the slides unless they are at least 42" inches tall. This was a very big disappointment for my grandson. He was so close the the height requirement but was not allowed to go down them because he was not tall enough. One of the slides was open and someone could of held his hand while he went down, but was not allowed to go down it because of his height. Now for the positive. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The staff was all very friendly, some a little more friendly than others, but all still courteous. The ventriloquist show was really good. All the shows we watched were good. Read Less

I am torn writing this. Although my friends and family are beyond blessed to have just returned home from a Royal Caribbean 7-day trip, docking out of Ft. Lauderdale on May 27, 2017. To balance being grateful that we were able to provide our family what was to be a vacation to celebrate 4 high school graduates, an anniversary and 70th birthday, to being completely broken is a task that is overwhelming. Our memories and our experience, maybe forever tainted and ruined at the hands of Royal Caribbean. My heart is broken for all our party, especially for my dearest friend Brandi and her entire family. They were directly affected by the unprincipled and venal actions of Royal Caribbean. I have a laundry list of issues that starting from the very first contact with Royal Caribbean in regards to how our reservation was handled. The clincher that ruined everything? We had a security situation on the boat. As passengers, customers, human beings, you have NO RIGHTS when a security incident becomes apparent on a cruise ship. We understand situations arise that maybe out of our control, however Royal Caribbean, was egregious negligent. The well-being of all individuals involved were never a priority. Royal Caribbean exudes professional negligence, displays evident breach duty of care between their enterprise and their customers. I will share my pictures soon, we will not let Royal Caribbean take away the smiles and laughs we did share on our vacation, even in the midst of experiencing one disaster after another. As a group of family and friends we rallied together to make the best out of this situation and continued to smile, show each other compassion, love, support, sincerity, and lifted each other up. I will advocate to no end for passenger rights for all, especially for US citizens traveling international waters with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., who proclaims to be an American global cruise company incorporated in Liberia and based in Miami, Florida. It is the world's second-largest cruise line operator. My heart is broken for all our party, again especially for my dearest friend Brandi and her entire family. They were directly affected by everything that is wrong with Royal Caribbean. Yes the ship was beautiful, great amenities, food, activities ambiance and more, however poor customer service, lack of follow thru, lack of safety, communication, and the handling of customers in adverse situations, over shadow everything great Royal Caribbean can offer. I choose harmony of the seas because i wanted my significant other to experience his birthday cruising onboard the largest ship in the world & because i've always felt that their customer service was superior to other cruise lines. Unfortunately with harmony, they sacrificed customer service & a wonderful client experience when they hired the crew that works onboard this ship. This was my worst cruise ever & that's saying a lot because i am a cruiser & cruising is my absolute favorite method of travel. Initially i thought that maybe it was just me being critical, but when we were in st kitts, we overheard a lady & her mom complaining about the exact same things, guest services doesn't answer the phones, the crew averts their eyes if they see you coming as to avoid feeling like they have to speak, extremely unfriendly customer service once you find yourself having to go stand in line to wait to speak with someone & not so tasty food to name a few! This is not classic royal caribbean behavior & i was extremely disappointed...so much so that i had to double check to make sure that i wasn't on carnival. Royal needs to scrap the entire crew & start over again here on this one, with the exception of the chops grille staff...they were the one bright spot the entire cruise...it's a shame we didn't go there until our last evening onboard the ship! I am so saddened to even have to write this review. Before we even departed the ship, a letter was sent to the corporate offices outlining numerous disappointments and complaints, no one has responded back as of yet except for to say 'hey we have received your letter'. In summing this up, all i can say is...save yourself the time, money & aggravation...skip this one guys!! :-/ Read Less

We chose Harmony of the Seas since it was a new ship and from reviews on other Oasis Class ships. The cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale was brand new and embarkation took only 10 minutes before we were on the ship. The Windjammer MarketPlace was busy and we were able to get a table. The food was very good with a good selection of dishes. We had a Superior Cabin on Deck 10. The room was spacious and had a large veranda. The entertainment was excellent, highly recommend the Aqua show "The Fine Line". The service in the restaurants and WindJammer was first rate. The food was very good, fresh and a good portion size. Enjoyed the Lunch buffet in American Icon on sea days. The cruise staff was very friendly and took an interest in solving any problems you may have encountered during your cruise. I would recommend Harmony of the Seas to anyone who wants a superior cruise. Read Less
