My sisters and I chose this cruise because of the itinerary and length of time to enjoy together. The ship was amazing and staff were incredibly kind and personable. We loved the entertainment, especially Kory Simon the piano man and the shows. Meals were sensational and a speciality meal in the Crown Grill surpasses our expectations. The scenery of the countries we visited and history of Europe is fascinating. 21 days flew as we enjoyed every aspect of the ship, the staff and fellow passengers. The international cafe was a hotspot after excursions for a relaxing drink and snack before our formal dining room experience and we also could tan in the afternoon high tea at three if we chose high was so nicely served. The crowd control was very well dealt with by offering so many different venues throughout the ship as well which made it feel very comfortable. I loved every minute of the 21 days and my next trip will be longer- again with Princess Cruises! Kudos to Princess! Read Less

Flew to Rome to board the ship.Booked an expensive junior suite and the experience was ruined by two anti social demons in the stateroom next door.Mother and daughter from New Zealand. On the 2nd day they were shouting and bawling and swearing and using the F word.I spoke to the cabin steward who promised to get it stopped. It did not stop and they were on the balcony at 6am swearing and being a nuisance. I got customer services involved and i did everything correct to try and get this noise stopped.Customer Services failed to stop the noise and the cruise was ruined. If you are caught smoking you get fined and possibly asked the leave the ship so why allow guests to spoil a holiday with noise and not kick them off or move them ? A lot of obnoxious guests on this ship - foul language and mostly American females who were doing this. Food was hit and miss - some meals had to go back due to being badly cooked. Mykonos was not visited due to bad weather and another boring sea day to endure. I complained to Princess when i got home about the noise problem and they offered me zero compensation - nothing !!!! I had filmed the noise and had evidence so i said Ok lets go to court. They replied with still no offer of any compensation.Downright uncaring and i will NEVER book with them again. It was such a joke how they handled the noise problem on board.I heard the noisy neighbours slam the cabin door as they went out. About 20 mins later a knock at my cabin door - Filton a customer service guy. He said he had been listening to the cabin next door and wanted to assure me all is now quiet and no problem !! I said THATS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN !!!!! He said Ok he will find them and tell them to stop this noise.Waste of time as it never stopped. Read Less

It's the only cruise line that I travel one .In fact my first cruise was on the Emerald. We arrived in Rome one day prior and it was amazing. As a platinum member the check-in was very fast. The ship was refurbished but the stateroom decoration is outdated. The food was very good . The boutiques aren't interesting even boring. The musicians are very talented and the singers also. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We had the anytime dining and its a great option if you want to relax. the entertainment presentations at the Princess theater were the worst I've seen so far. Our room cleaner wasn't friendly and helpful .The worts we had so far.I'll remember him for a long time. The ports offers very affordable shuttle that make your reconsider the necessity of paying for expensive excursions. The one in Corfu and Chania were a waist of money and my time. Read Less

The food quality and selection is not what I have been used to on Princess cruise. Was served French fries with a filet mignon. Being on a Mediterranean cruise would have expected a better selection of seafood and fish. King prawns were the size of baby shrimps. Although the MichelAngelo waiting staff was really courteous and helpful. Pedro the head waiter was good to find us nice and enjoyable people to sit with. Front desk service is useless they give you the run around! We were booked on a shore excursion on our day of disembarking but the bus couldn’t carry luggage. It would have been great to visit Mykonos but the rough sea prevent it us to port.... the captain decided for the safety of the passenger to continue our route. I’m glad that he made that call for our safety. Princess didn’t live up to their slogan.... Come Back New! I found that Princess cruise line has been going down in quality over the last 5 years. Choose this cruise to experience Greece and its food, drink and culture. The good is that Princess did an awesome job on embarkment (no wait) and disembarkment. Excursion organization and cleanliness, and great staff. It couldn’t have been any better. I rated 4 stars because I wouldn’t take this cruise again. It was boring. Entertainment was for older people ( we were a party of 8 in our late 50s and early 60s). Pool parties and piano bar weren’t what we had on other cruise lines. After dinner we struggled to find things to do. We were looking for dancing or comedy. There was one great band with a woman singer that we found 2 nights and that was the entertainment highlight. We had people in our party fall asleep and leave during auditorium shows. We did trivia a few times and that was fun. Food and drink were awesome. Service was exemplary. Shore excursions ... mostly good, organized, good guides and clean bus on all with no waits. Crete we did a beach excursion and when we got there there weren’t enough lounge chairs for our party to be together, stained cushions on loungers and you couldn’t swim cause of the rocks .. not what we expected. Now Corfus excursion was awesome town and cooking class. Highlight of the trip. We booked wanting to see white beaches and bluest water with the white buildings and saw none:(. Too windy to go to Mykonos (which we booked for) and princess did nothing for us that day ie, free drinks, more entertainment so that felt like a wasted day. One more thing, we were on a Greek cruise and the nightly dining had no Italian or Greek food or appetizers. Would highly recommend they change this to have 2 or 3 options for the area every night. Also the wine and beer of that region would be a plus. Would recommend this cruise for older people. Read Less

Bucket list cruise for both me and my spouse and wanted to see if we would like to go back to the Greek islands for a further visit. And we will. Very surprised on how it was easy to embark in Civitavecchia and loved our stay for 2 days before. Highly recommend it! First time booking a back to back cruise and i would not mind doing that again. I found the food was a little repetitive for my personal preference and not hot enough either in the dining room (anytime dining) and the buffet (world market). Breakfast was a little repetitive and Princess no longer offers toaster/grill to make your own toast, bagels so your toast, bagels, english are cold. Same for their eggs sunny side but under a heat lamps, so stiff and not good. They did offer build your own omelettes which was very good. We went to Kotor Montenegro twice and would do that again. We missed Mykonos because of high winds but that could not be helped. The staff were nice and mostly very helpful. I will cruise again with Princess. Read Less

My friends and I were looking for a Mediterranean cruise but late to book so many were already sold out. I thought Princess was rated similar to RCCL and Celebrity ...oops, I was so wrong. If the was one Improvement I'd. Suggest, it would be to stop nickel and diming people with stupid drink packages!!! How ridiculous to offer a water and coke package which only serviced INSIDE or Outside your cabins. It was, like much of the programs...petty. nightly entertainment limited to early only crowds. After 9pm, there's few options. The best experience was in the spa where I got 2 treatments that were e excellent. I did pass on the $60.00 manicure tho. Placing an automatic 15% gratuity was insulting. Lastly, as most cruises, the food is bountiful however what's the purpose of having different dining rooms if you're serving the same menu in each? Where was the variety? Even the 2 additional restaurants you had to pay additional for had pretty much the same menu as the others. Simply unimaginative and a basic 3 1/2 star cruise line. A touch above costa and same as NCL. And don't waste 2 days at sea just to get cheap fuel in Gilbralter ! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of itinerary and the flight included package. Loved the stops. The ship was great except for food. I am not a fish or seafood eater so I found limited choices for me in the dining room. I am a fussy eater so I thought just me but after sitting with others in dining room, they too, were disappointed. There were very few kids on this cruise so pools were good but I would guess they could get crowded with little ones at other times. I didn’t see a kids pool. The shows were nothing to crow about. The casino was dead, no competitions etc. I did enjoy the entertainment team. They were great. The game shows were also good. I also find the buffet to be small and again heavy on fish.our room was quiet and clean so no complaints there.enbarksion and disembark both great. Read Less

This was our eighth cruise with Princess and probably our last ... The Emerald is12 years old, and it shows: the cabins need refurbishing, although the carpets have been replaced recently, the main areas are in better condition and the buffet area has been totally updated.. However this ship needs a major overhaul mechanically as it vibrates a lot (confirmed by a crew member). A number of passengers, including my husband and I, found the vibration in our cabin unbearable at times, we tried to relocate but the ship was fully booked, never encountered this before on a cruise ship, maybe a ferry ... The food was pretty good in the dining room and the buffet was very good too although there were no theme nights for Greek food which would have been nice. In general, the entertainment was okay; 2 comedians, one American (excellent) and a young Brit (improved second night). Tried a theatre production, bit lame for us ...not into Trivia or bingo or gambling .... The excursions were very good although expensive,, we do our own thing as much as possible... sadly we were not able to visit Mykonos due to high wind and spent the day at sea in a force 8 gale, really unexpected... All in all loved the cruise, despite not being able to sleep properly for 2 weeks, my advice would be to book with the newer “Royal class” ships like the Regal or the Royal and stay away from the older ones ... All of the staff on board the Emerald Princess were extremely warm and welcoming. In particular, we would like to thank Raul and Antonio for their phenomenal hospitality! (Please see pic attached) We embarked in Athens and disembarked in Barcelona. During our week at sea we visited Santorini, Montenegro, Sicily and Naples and had 2 fantastic days at sea. We loved the cold wet flannels and the cucumber/orange flavoured water that was offered to us on re-embarkation. The food on board was amazing; we loved the fresh pizza, which had a different choice of topping everyday. The menu offered a great selection and the vegetarian members of our party were happy with their options. We also loved the omelette stand at breakfast where you could choose all your ingredients. The movie selection was very impressive, including: The Greatest Showman, Shazam! and Avengers: Endgame. The overall hospitality was exceptional and we are very eager to return! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports that it was stopping at. We also liked the amenities and class of the cruise. We enjoyed the club class dining. Our servers Jelana, Ryan, Iris and Bazvan were the BEST! We always asked to sit at their station and enjoyed their company immensely. The saw to our every gastro need and gave excellent tips on what to order. They really added to our vacation enjoyment! We took 2 of the cruise excursions which were both extremely well run. The guides were very knowledgable. We tried to sign up for some tours in Marseille but they were canceled. I liked Paulos who gave tips on the ports during the sea days. We loved the Sanctuary. It was a quiet and relaxing way to spend the afternoon. The servers were all very friendly and accommodating, waiting on for every need. We really liked the evening shows in the Princess theater, especially the dance themes like the 70's disco. The activities during the day seemed geared more for older people. Too much pushing of the anti-wrinkle, burn fat seminars at the spa. Also we would have liked more lounge chairs available in the shade around the pool. We liked that there was not too much loud music around the pool. Liked the band that played periodically at the pool in the evening. The shuttles to town should not have a cost attached. When you pay $8000 for a cruise, you expect that it will bring you to the actual place that is listed on the itinerary, not have to pay $15 pounds to get you there. My neighbor was so excited to see our pictures, she wants to go on the same cruise next spring. She indecisive on this or a Italy bus tour. Are there any incentives you can give to help her decide? Safety on board is paramount and they conduct a very professional informative safety briefing at the various muster points before the fun begins. Housekeeping on board is amazing . The friendly staff go over and above to maintain hospitality grade cleanliness The well organized on board activities and shore excursions accomidate the needs of all ages.We both thought that the tours had more than enough places of interest to choose from and the tour guides were well versed and very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas..We had a fantastic time and recommend to everyone having second thoughts to take the plunge. This was our third cruise with Princess Cruise Lines. The three-week itinerary of the Emerald Princess met our requirements as we wanted to visit multiple ports in the Mediterranean. We booked our daily excursions through the ship's website (online, prior to leaving home) and were very happy with each of our selections. The tour guides were knowledgeable and proficient in the English language. The ship's staff is very organized about making sure each passenger gets to their appropriate meeting point and onto the correct bus each morning. We also thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the dining room and the variety of entertainment offered on board the ship each day and throughout the evening. The staff on the ship made our voyage extremely special and pleasant every day. We had an extremely positive experience and look forward to cruising with Princess Cruise Line again in the (hopefully) not too distant future. Read Less

We booked this cruise a few weeks before sailing, as we were in need of a de-stress break. The Emerald Princess certainly delivered. We've cruised with Princess before, so we knew what to expect in terms of the ship and its layout. The Emerald Princess has recently had some updates, with a restyled buffet and top deck areas. The whole ship was beautifully maintained and extremely clean. We booked a balcony cabin; be aware that Riviera deck cabins are fully covered, and as such it was rarely in the sun. This wasn't a great problem, but we'd avoid that deck again, as we like to sunbathe on our balcony which we didn't really do on this cruise. Our cabin steward was excellent, the room was always cleaned to a high standard, and he always seemed to appear when we needed to ask a question, or if we had an armful of plates from the buffet to take to our balcony! Dining across the ship was consistently very good. We did miss the selection in the buffet that you find on the larger Princess ships, but we always found items that we enjoyed. Lines at the burger bar were very short when compared to other ships, even at peak times. Sometimes it puts you off seeing a long line to wait in, there were no long lines on this ship. We also enjoyed the pizza, and snacks from the international cafe were of high quality. Try the Passion fruit Chocolate slice - it was delicious! Food in the main dining room was on the whole excellent, and in the main staff were really warm, friendly and accommodating. One night we had wait staff who were less interested, and this really stood out as all other staff on the ship were amazing, always with a smile, and always ready to help. So two less interested staff out of a huge crew was not a big deal, but noticed. Particular mention to Franco, a Mexican waiter (I think I have his name right), as he was even more smiley, friendly and warm than the others. We were pleased to be say on his table twice. No wait or pagers for main dining room was an added bonus. We tried Curtis Stone one night, the meal was suitably longer, service was attentive, and the food was different in a good way. We were unsure as to whether we would feel it was worth the up charge, but agreed it was well worth a try. Highlight was the pasta, not how we were expecting it at all, but truly delicious - give it a try. Entertainment was very good, we enjoyed three production shows in a week with a high standard of singing and dancing. We also enjoyed the British comedian. We were so pleasantly surprised to see Arny G on board, a lounge pianist and singer we'd enjoyed watching on a previous cruise a couple of years back. It was great to be acquainted with him again, and we enjoyed watching his shows each evening. The piano bar was packed every night as Arny has an amazing singing and playing style, with an infectious personality. He is very generous in involving his audience, encouraging requests and even twisting my arm to join him on stage for a song (or two)! He even showed us round Marseille, somewhere we hadn't visited before. Arny you are an inspiration and now a true friend! Thanks for playing such a big part in making the cruise so memorable. Wonderful ports and weather, you really can't go wrong with a Med cruise on Princess, something for everyone on and off the ship. As relatively regular Princess cruisers, we are usually impressed - but we were still struck by how almost every single staff member we encountered was so eager to provide top service. Consistently high standards of food, service and entertainment across the whole ship. Princess is definitely up a notch from other cruise lines we've tried (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, P&O), everything seems to be done with more care. Can't wait to repeat on the brand new Sky Princess on the 27th October - we're hooked! Read Less

Need lots of improvement in food service and quality of service. The front desk employees, either they were not knowledgeable or not feeling to assist or they were tired. At least the one who was helping us. Food was average quality, we return our food back in the dining room because it was not cooked and or was not prepared right. Our waiter in dining room was a very nice guy. Fitness center was clean but they were permitting kids in the center, kids were all over on the equipment creating a danger first to them and others. The cruise company leave the responsibility on the parents. Entertainments were not as interesting as it should be at least to our test. Chose the cruise because the price sounded good and was "inclusive". Was disappointed certain cities and port fees were added to the trip and the way it was presented and the experience we had. Excursions were not what was expected and not what I thought they would be and the cities were not tourist oriented and only wanted the tourists dollar. Socialism has ruined these countries and it shows it: no park benches to wait for a bus, charge for public bathrooms, bothered by street "vendors" not being chased by police, trash in the streets and next to restaurants, terrible roads in cities, every restaurant charges like they are Michelin operators ( don't even get bread for your meal but are charge if you want some. Also be aware that the charges upon debarcation include VAT taxes in certain cities and also port taxes in some places that appear on your bill. Do not appreciate wanting a daily charge for the internet ( all American Hotels have FREE internet and the hotels in Europe). Did not appreciate no seating in the World Market: go in, get your food, and then look for a seat and then wind up upside to eat with cold food! Being charge extra for the 2 "special restaurants", having the cruise lines saving money on these venues and also when people are on their tours do not eat on the boat so there again, they save money. Putting water bottles in your room with a sign for purchase on them! Sold as a seven day cruise and never told that you could go for another 14 days: poor marketing on the operator. On our flight over could not sit with my wife and coming home, supposedly, my reservation was canceled. Read Less

We chose this cruise as a wedding anniversary treat, looking for a romantic setting, lots going on but not a party atmosphere, and not overrun with kids. The ship delivered perfectly. There was always plenty to see and do, and places on the ship that catered to adults only. The ship was busy, but there were never long lineups anywhere, even for free pizza, burgers or ice cream on the top deck. The excursions were all wonderful and very well-organized as we were taken ashore and returned quickly and efficiently at all ports. On board, there were good entertainment choices and lots of opportunity to stay fit (Zumba class on the deck, etc.) Loved the adults-only pool areas. The restaurants were definitely a highlight of the cruise with wonderful food experiences at all but one. The suite was beyond expectations in terms of space and comfort. A few minor glitches: difficult to get through to restaurant reservations or room service on the phone. Communication was a challenge with some staff as their English was not great (but then, we don't speak any other languages so some of that is on us). Loved all the restaurants, except Steamers Seafood was a bad experience. Quality of the food and service at this restaurant did not warrant an upcharge. Drinks were a bit pricey. At the Anytime Dining breakfast, it would have been nice to have more yogurt, granola and fruit options. Too focused on American-style breakfast. Some of the entertainment was average, but still fun and enjoyable. And it would have been nice to have even more places on the ship to have a quiet conversation over a drink. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the ports of call and our Parents, who went with us, are Platinum members on Princess. The check in was the quickest we have experienced in comparison to Royal Caribbean. The Food choices each day in the restaurants were excellent and very appealing to look at. PROS: Check in process was efficient and quick The itinery was great. Ports of call were gorgeous and perfectly fit our bucket list. Staff was very friendly and professional. This was especially true with stateroom Stewards and casino hosts. Bar staff was quick and friendly. We booked interior rooms because we didn't plan on staying inside. Were very surprised with how spacious the rooms were and the bedding was so comfortable!! CONS: Entertainment was very poor and catered to over 70 crowd. No variety each night. Food in Dining rooms were great but Buffet selection and taste was poor. Part of our excursion was canceled to rough seas(Amalfi Coast and Pompei) They took us to Sarrento by bus and dropped us off at the square for 1 hour. Poor substitute for a boat cruise down the Amalfi Coast. Princess credited us $40 for the change in itinary. Eve though I appreciate the thought, I think this was highway robbery when you consider the substitution. I felt that Princess Excurtions did not credit us the appropriate amount for the shortfall. How can you compare the experience and price to being dumped at the city square to sit in the hot sun for an hour. I would have preferred to return to the ship and use the credit on another excursion. This left a poor taste in our overall impression of the cruise. They lost one star for this experience. Read Less

This was my family's first cruise on Princess and I have to say we are extremely disappointed. We experienced so many issues, the most important being with poor quality of service. Here is some of what we experienced: - Nights two and three we had horrible (and by horrible I mean nonexistent) service at dinner. Our other tables in our large party were literally finishing their entrees and we had yet to receive our appetizers. I still could not tell you who our assistant server was after our 7 night cruise because he was nowhere to be found. On night three no one came to our table for over a half hour. - The toilet in one of our rooms clogged like clockwork every night for the first three nights and instead of apologizing and fixing the problem the plumber essentially accused us of putting something other than toilet paper down the toilet (we didn't). When we would try to call the desk to have someone repair it no one would answer the phone, forcing us to walk to the lobby each time. After the third time the toilet broke, we went back to the desk and I could see one of the women at the desk mocking me as I spoke to her colleague. In front of my face. I work in the hospitality industry and can assure you that while direct and frustrated, I was very polite and calm while interacting with him. Completely uncalled for. Finally the next morning the plumber actually disassembled and repaired the toilet instead of the usual quick-fix from the previous nights. It worked fine after this. - The toilets in the public women's rooms were often filthy and would remain this way for hours. - The currency machines were out of order 80% of the time. The machines to check your account balance were down the last two nights of the cruise, causing insanely long lines at the front desk. When directed to the desk to exchange money, they acted as though guests were a bother. Every crew member we spoke with at the front desk was incredibly unprofessional and far from friendly. - In fact, most staff we interacted with on the cruise were unprofessional, unapologetic, and rude, making it very apparent they do not enjoy their jobs and do not wish to be there. After constant issues, sometimes all you want is a seemingly genuine apology, and we never received that. Not once. - Like I said, the attitude of most staff we encountered was poor to say the least. A couple examples: We watched an employee in the photography studio on the last night of our cruise yell (loudly!) and berate an elderly woman who took a photo of one of her pictures, not realizing this was not allowed. He followed her around the store yelling loudly for everyone to hear, demanding she delete the photo immediately. This was NOT the proper way to handle this situation and everyone around was mortified and embarrassed for her. Another night while shopping in Calypso Cove if you needed assistance from a staff member you would not receive it. Why? The two working were arguing in front of the store. - Want a drink at night? If you are directed to a bar that is supposed to be open until 11pm, prepare to get there only for them to be completely shut down and unable to pour you a drink by 10:30, a half hour before closing time. This happened twice at Adagio. - Spa staff was polite and helpful, until there was a concern with one of the treatments. Their demeanor then completely changed and became curt and defensive. - Disembarkation was chaotic. We did the walk-off option as we had to be off the ship early, and our entire group had to carry our 50+ pound suitcases down over ten flights of stairs because it was impossible to get an elevator. Three of the five elevators were marked 'R' for reserved and the other two were at capacity for over twenty minutes before we opted to take the stairs. Two people in our party who were unable to take the stairs waited over 45 minutes for an elevator. Children, seniors, and everyone in between were lugging their gigantic suitcases down the stairwells. POSITIVES: - Our stateroom, while dated, was always very clean. Our steward Winston was so friendly, always asking about our day with a genuine smile. - The restaurant 'Share' by Curtis Stone was excellent. We loved our food and entire experience here and agree it was definitely worth the up-charge. We wish we came here more than once - The Ports of Call were great. We loved each destination. It should be noted that we did not book any of our excursions through the cruiseline, only outside companies. - Embarkation was smooth, quick, and efficient. As first-time guests on Princess, we are beyond disappointed. After one day of this, we thought 'maybe this is a one-off.' But the continuous issues and unapologetic staff day in and day out made this vacation far from relaxing. We had high hopes and expectations and this cruise did not live up to them. For all of these reasons I would not recommend Princess cruiseline. I have no experience on their other ships but this one specifically was disappointing. I have sailed with three other cruiselines and have never experienced such poor service. My family spent a ton of money for what should have been the trip of a lifetime and while the ports were fabulous (again, excursions not booked through Princess) our time on the ship was stressful, agitating, and honestly shocking. Went on this cruise for my friends 50th Birthday. The whole cruise was amazing onboad the crew were great they could not do enough for me. They made my experience priceless. The on shore excursions are a must and I pre booked before leaving so I did not have to line up to book and took my time researching them. All the places we visited were amazing to see and plenty to do. You don't have to go a shore if you don't want to but would be mad if you didn't. The bar and wait staff in the casino were a lot of fun and I liked how they remembered your name and your drink. Also top deck and pool side were great too. The daily activities were fun and a great way to meet new people. Entertainment by the cruise entertainment people were quite funny and enjoyable. All in all had the best time ever. It seamed like an ideal way to relax after a busy work schedule and as a way to see other parts of Europe in transit to Turkey. It is a matter of choice how busy one can be on a cruise and this one did not disappoint. The sea days provided the necessary relaxation to reboot the energy for the day excursions and in preparation for the long hikes ahead. A taste of three different cultures during the shore excursions provided the enrichment and entertainment that I enjoyed. Gibraltar provided the English/Spanish history. At Marseilles, although it was disappointing that our first option was not available due to the bicycle race Avignon provided another historical visit and a glimpse at the countryside. Genoa and Livorno both gave us the opportunity to see the countryside and observe the enormous engineering feats that the Italians have accomplished with roads through hills with tunnels and viaducts. The picturesque beaches were a treat. Leaving the ship in Rome was inevitable but a place previously visited. The excursions are as described in the brochures and efficiently organised at each port along with the apparent seamless process for embarkation and disembarkation. The activities provided were a huge range and everyone should have found plenty of a high quality to meet their needs. Emerald Princess is a great ship. Read Less

Excursions too rushed and actually didn't see anything properly and definitely did not have the experience expected. Summary - 'Been there seen that' - Not 'Been there and done that'. Embarkation and disembarking were very well organised and efficient. Cleanliness was high and service from our steward was excellent. No issue service wise. Food was basically the same form day to day will minimal variations - food was ok of you love great if you love salt. Would have preferred to have more local foods from each destination we went to. Couldn't get into the restaurant we wanted even when booking a day on advance. Was my first cruise so wasn't sure what to expect - but definitely felt underwhelmed. My 2 teenage daughters did enjoy it but even their excitement was starting to dull toward the end. Everything seemed to have an additional charge when I expected most things to be included. Overall pretty poor value - rather do hotels and stay for a few days at each location that this overrated hop on hop off bus. Read Less

The destinations were fabulous! However, everything else on the cruise was horrific. The food was so bad that when we did discover edible food, we thought we had hit the jackpot! We went to bed hungry when the ship did not have a stop. When we got off the boat, we ate on shore and purchased lots of snacks. The menu was not pescatarian friendly and the cooks clearly struggled with seafood. As for our cabin, it was located directly under the aft deck. Every morning the crew dragged chairs over our heads to set- up the deck. We requested another room and offered to pay for an upgrade, but the guest services never got back to us. The excursion assistant manager is so disrespectful that he should be fired! The photographer never showed up for our appointment. We waited for 40 minutes. When we bumped into her, she claimed not to have us on her itinerary. Our luggage was misplaced for disembarkation. Overall, Princess Cruises are the worst. Read Less

We have had the pleasure of cruising the med on several occasions, we booked this thinking it was a 14 day cruise with the usual everyone off and on at the beginning and the end (as was our previous experiences). This wasn't the case, this particular itinerary is really a 7 day cruise and you can do 1,2 or 3 segments (7,14 or 21 days). This works out well for embarkation and disembarkation as its not so crowded but we found that the onboard stuff is just repeated, so if you do a 21 day cruise look forward to the same entertainment 3 times. This was our 2nd cruise on Emerald, the difference between this time and last was the there seemed to be less staff getting around to either take a drinks order or clean up the things left behind by guests eg: Movies under the stars, we where never approached for a drinks order or offered a cookie or popcorn, the vacant seats and side table in front of us was just left with dirty towels and plates etc for the entire length of time we sat there, this was something we have never experienced with Princess previously. You will be in a beautiful port each day, so get out and explore either through Princess or other alternatives. Suggestion for those that dock in Naples, catch the ferry to Ischica, the ferry terminal is a very short walk from where the ship docks, do some on line research eg: google maps and ferries for timetables. It is just beautiful and nowhere as busy as Capri but just as beautiful, you will love it great beaches fro swimming if that's your thing, shopping and cafe's/restaurants and the best bit no crowds. The cost to do it on your own is1/4 the price of the Princess tour. Whilst on board the internet changed systems, this new system is in preparation for there Medallion class upgrade next year and works really well. Has much cheaper plans than the old way and has great connectivity, We are fairly casual cruisers and didn't use the Main Dinning Room, headed to the buffet, the burger place, also dinned at Crown Grill a few times along with Curtis Stones "Share". We do enjoy the Crown Grill and found the staff and service top notch. We also love the International Cafe, spend a lot of time there just people watching and listing to the entertainment provided. In summary and this is just our experience, we thought that Princess has dropped the ball just a little in that there appears to be less staff, its just the little things like the clearing of tables that seemed to take forever to get done or trying to order drinks etc. The food provided in the buffet definitely wasn't the same standard as previous cruises and repetitive, still enjoyable, the fresh salad selection is great. Our cabin steward was lovely, always greeted with a smile morning and night. If we had an issue it was resolved immediately eg: the bath in our mini suite was draining very slowly it was rectified whilst out that day. Also if you don't mention these things to staff they don't know and there for don't fix it. We disembarked in Civitavecchia, caught the port shuttle to the local bus that takes you to the train station then train to Rome, really easy to do for those that are staying in Rome pre cruise or after the cruise as we where. My advise for those who do this take a slightly later train ours was at 11.15 am or something, otherwise you could find yourself struggling with your luggage along with cruisers who are day tripping it into Rome and it will be a packed train. Happy Cruising Would definitely cruise with Princess in the future as we like there style of cruising and general decor of there ships. Read Less
