This was my first RC boat, and I was pretty disappointed. After cruising only on Carnival for years and having good experiences I expected even better from RC because I've always heard great things. I was really excited. Embarkation and disembarkation was really smooth and simple, the fastest I've ever seen. I really loved the interior and decor of the ship and as soon as I boarded I was impressed. The Solarium pool area was especially impressive, it's really nice! Unfortunately, I soon realized that everything only seems nice on the surface. The casino feels ancient, and there are only a few fun and recent machines. Half of the elevators were out of service, making the wait for an elevator ridiculous and possibly dangerous should an issue arise. At first the rooms seemed fine, and although our steward was lovely, we quickly realized the room was only clean on the surface. The faucet of our sink was filthy upon arrival, and there were hairs everywhere. Also, there are small marker marks ALL OVER the boat, as if being marked by professionals for something, not by a kid who got hold of a marker. It isn't a big deal but it just adds to the overall feeling of the boat not being truly clean and ready for vacationers. Also, it seems like rules were never enforced. Usually I don't mind this much but at some points it was annoying. One instance in particular was for the dinner theatre at Giovanni's. It is marked as an 18+ experience, yet there was a baby there. The parents set up an iPad to keep him entertained so thankfully he didn't cry, but we were sitting close to them and heard the singing of cartoons all dinner long. Some rules need to be bent but this was something that should not have been allowed. Everyone near the family was really distracted, and it was just an unnecessary thing for a baby to be at a dinner theatre when there is ample options for child-sitting on the boat. It seemed like a reasonable time for someone to enforce the rules but nobody did. Another big issue was the food. The fact that there are only three places to get food for no additional cost is crazy when compared to other ships. You have the MDR and the Windjammer Buffet, both of which are tasty but have almost the same food every single night and get old very fast. The only other option is the pizza/sandwich shop. At first I thought they would be specialty sandwiches or pizzas but no, it's exactly what they serve in the buffet, although it is really tasty. I thought it was just crazy that there are so few options for food. That being said, we did eat at Giovanni's one night and I was really impressed, the food was delicious. Another big issue is that it seemed like the staff randomly decided to close things down. The buffet was always being closed early, coming in twenty minutes before closing and half the food being put away. I would normally not mind this because I understand that they have such a limited time to get things set up but when there are so few options to begin with I didn't think this was fair. Also, the water attractions like the slides and Wave Rider would close and open at random times that didn't align with what the signs posted. It was very frustrating! I know these people work very very hard but I don't think it's much to ask for things to be open when the signs say they will be. Also, there is a major problem with RC themselves. We did the kayak excursion on CocoCay, and I'm telling you now, do not book this excursion. You go on a forty minute kayak ride to NOTHING. There is nothing to see and nowhere to go, it was so boring and kayaking for forty minutes on choppy water is not easy. We were very frustrated by the time it was over. There were two guides, the main girl who was from the RC and the follow up guy who just made sure everyone was the main guide who was from a nearby island. We mentioned how disappointed we were to him and it launched a discussion on how unfair it is that RC places someone who knows nothing about the island or culture in charge and expects the locals to do all the grunt work. The main girl was making up blatantly false stories to make things seem more interesting and overall you could tell she didn't care about the place she was showing off. It was just really terrible! We also noticed something similar in Nassau. RC books these excursions and then leaves the locals with little to no help once on the island. When leaving the ship and waiting for the excursion there were only two women trying to deal with about 300 angry, hot cruisers. I obviously don't know all the details of how this works but It is unfair how this cruise line handled excursions and they need to provide the locals with more support! Lastly, the DJ was absolutely horrible. Half the time he wouldn't even be at his laptop! I know there is probably a pre-approved list of what he can play but there is no excuse for how often he replayed songs that nobody wanted to hear. We tried to give the club a chance every single night and not once did I see people dancing and enjoying themselves to his music. The best form of entertainment was the ice show. It really was something special! The cruise was a lot of fun and I still really enjoyed my vacation, but this was definitely not a great first impression for RC. Read Less

Ironically our last cruise was in 2007 in the Caribbean on the AOS (not why we selected the ship this time). So its been a minute since we have chosen to spend our vacation $$on a cruise. The attraction was drive-ability to the port and the itinerary. 1. Boarding and dis embarkation was quite orderly and the process has benefited from the electronic records and screenings. I must note that we were traveling with son, dil and baby so there were some advantages being with an infant. 2. We had a JS on deck 9 and 191 sq ft cabin on deck 12 near the Spa. The JS was a nice size and was great for an infant or children as there is a bath tub. I don't believe it was worth $5000 especially charging $900 for an infant. The deck 12 location was terrific as you had immediate access to outside and the front of the ship was very quiet. I also hate trudging down the long corridors. HIgh marks for the location!!! 3.Dining. Based on my observations of the amount and frequency of food that people were eating I would have to say most people seemed quite happy. I believe I am the outlier in this category as I have been fortunate to dine at some wonderful restaurants in the US/Canada and Europe. And at home we have access to local, organic, fresh food. We dined in the Main dining room all but 1 night. Bottom line the food is good banquet food. I understand that it is an amazing feature that they prepare and feed thousands of people. I brought on a case of Evian water (restocked in port) and never drank any water, soda, tea or coffee the entire time. I really loved the sink options as you enter the dining room instead of the sanitize option. 4. Ports. We did not use any of the ship tour options and instead located private guides. Nova Scotia waterfront was beautiful and very walking friendly. We started our Lobster Roll Tour in NS and ended it in Portland. We tasted 10 different Lobster Rolls and 3 of the 4 of us rated Dave's in NS #1. We were unable to eat at Eventide in Portland which was a disappointment but it was too hot to wait for a table with a baby. There are plenty of tour options in each port you just need to know your interests and stamina before booking. 5. SERVICE I have immense respect for anyone in the service industry and the staff was tremendous. Cabin stewards, dining staff are truly dedicated and want to make certain that every guest is happy and pleased. At the same time I feel like the staff are not paid or treated very well by RC. Kudos to the staff of AOS. The one exception would be the Front Desk. I made several call for general info and stopped several times for various reasons and they are so automated and don't listen to the question and just wanted to recite some pre packaged answer. Again, maybe some one is talking in their ear with auto response. 6. Activities. I don't feel that their is enough pool space especially for a ship that spends most of its time in the Caribbean. Nice sun and shade options with and without wind protection. They DO NOT have nursery for under 3 despite being told in advance that they did. VERY LIMITED SAFE USABLE SPACE FOR UNDER 3 CROWD!!!!! 7. Would we return? NO. I would prefer to pay more upfront and not be nickled and dimed for every little thing AND pay 18% gratuity on top of that. Our next cruise will be with a premium line that focus on food and wine with fewer guests. Cruising is not an inexpensive option. People are fooled with the food option. I guess the exception is if you get the lowest priced inside cabin. 8. Overall based on my experience the target market for this ship and this itinerary is over 50, multi generational, very little diversity and predominately draws from the Mid Atlantic region. I did not witness loud or excessive partying and drinking. Happy Cruising to all. Read Less

We flew into Newark airport and spent the night at Wyndham Garden hotel. We do not recommend either. The boarding the next day was unbelievably easy and fast. The balcony cabin was ok but seemed smaller than ever before. We sailed RC once before and really enjoyed it. This time was a lot different. In all other ship's cabins we had a coffee table in front of the sofa. There was no table or even appeared that there could have been space for one. My husband always liked to have breakfast in the room. Not only did we have to pay for this but there was no where to eat it in the room. We do not like that so many daytime activities cost extra. There was a good deal on soda in the room for $12 for six cans, The buffet was way too crowded. The main dining food was banquet quality and not much change from night to night. We tried to do anytime dining for the one night we would get back from an excursion too late to make the 5:30 seating and were told we could not change our time at all. We were surprised but then told we could join our regular table whenever we got back. And we do not remember ever seeing an option to upgrade your choice for more money on any other cruise in the main dining room. Our waiter, Rashon, however, was the best we have ever met. We did enjoy the entertainment but why are the bar shows so short? Ports of call were not that interesting. Seemed like you needed to take a bus to an interesting port town. We did do Kennebunkport. The hop on hop off bus at St. John and Halifax was not that great. The weather was great and the seas the calmest we have ever seen. Read Less

Have enjoyed cruising on Royal line before but this ship was the worse experience we have ever had. Embarkation and disembarkation was great, We had a back to back cruise, on the first half going to Canada we were in a balcony room, but not too bad, only complaint was the odor of dried urine which was always present, the room attendant did clean it a few times daily but it did not help much, storage was adequate for an older ship, but on the second half of our trip we had to move to a interior room with no window or view screen for the outside, there was no circulating fresh air which cause my husband to have increased sinus problems and me to have frequent nose bleeds, the room was small with no room to walk along the bedside, we had to approach the bed from the foot of the bed then get on our knees and crawl up to the head of the bed which was not easy for someone who has muscular problems and a need to go to the bathroom throughout the night. We only ate at the Windjammer and had difficulty finding seating most times maybe because most of the tables were large with couples taking a large table so they could eat together and the smaller tables where you can sit and eat while having a private conversation with your companion were not plentiful, all the tables were too close. The only good thing were the dining servers, most were very friendly and constantly there if you needed anything. There is much more i could say that was not good on this ship but i won't. I have enjoyed cruising in the past on Royal and plan on doing it again only not on Anthem of the Seas Read Less

We enjoyed three nights precruise in NYC and then 10 days of enjoyable cruising. We traveled with my stepmom and chose this itinerary based on her dream trip & booked a suite as a splurge. The perks that come with the suite more than made up for a couple of disappointments with cruise staff. We loved the free appetizers and drinks each night in the suite lounge. The suite concierge and our cabin steward went above and beyond expectations. We experienced several occasions when we thought Princess just does things better and will likely carry on cruising with Princess for the most part (22 Princess cruises & counting!) Our major disappointment came with a RCCL shore excursion staff person who on several occasions was no help or assistance for my stepmom (she has limited walking stamina and frequently uses a walker). Able-bodied & scooter-riders seemed to do well but my stepmom had frequent difficulties with sharp angled gangways (especially experienced in Quebec City) and long walks from ship to terminal buildings. The golf cart transport in We really enjoyed the cruise otherwise. Read Less

View Fall Foliage in Canada and New England areas. There was NO fall foliage. Local guides told us Fall Foliage appears from mid to late October, we were 4-6 weeks too early. embarkation was smooth with no delays. Day 1 had excellent weather sunny and 75-80 degree temps. Day 2 cold, windy, and rain. Windjammer buffet had average tasting food, no variety 95% of the food was the same every day. Expected more local foods and items from New England e.g. Clam Chowder. Breakfast and snacks at Cafe Promenade were the same every day and mediocre at best. Food in Sapphire Dining room again was average at best. Didn't see any local favorites on menu. Some items e.g. the Steak Diane wasn't very edible and had to be replaced with a different entree. Service in Sapphire room however was excellent, the wait staff, Kenneth and Mohammed were the best. Cabin was neat and clean. Entertainment was average. Casino was to have low limit tables at times but bet minimum never changed. The entire time 2 elevators never worked and 2 others worked occasionally. Read Less

We had traveled on Royal Caribbean in 2012 (repositioning cruise from Miami to London), and enjoyed the cruise, very much. This 2018 cruise, we were celebrating my one-year survival and almost no evidence of disease (cancer). On board, the rugs were stained in the halls and our cabin; tablecloths were stained for two meals. Glass windows and portholes were grimey. As obaumlackl wrote, two elevators were out of commission the entire cruise; two worked sporadically. (Should never happen!) Bad news, especially for disabled persons. Food in Windjammer was, indeed, mediocre and repetitive; breakfast and dinner in Sapphire Dining Room were a little better and service during dinner was great. We, too, thought that more local foods would be served. Of course, we could have lobster if we wanted to pay a great deal extra. Of our ship-arranged tours, the Boston tour (in the Steps of Paul Revere) was a disaster. Little pertained to PR and Revolution; most was a Chamber of Commerce welcome tour to Boston (during the rain). Eight hours of this! Ramps to and from the ship were often too long, especially for disabled persons. They were also slippery. Nothing special for Crown & Anchor Members that we saw. On our previous cruise, there was a welcome back cocktail gathering for C&A members,, and a special departure lounge. Couldn't find evidence of either. I think we've sworn off Royal Caribbean. Ports of Call! Started in Quebec City and docked in Nova Scotia, Halifax, Portland, Boston and then to Florida. Our Cabin was situated near the elevator which was nice. The elevators however were horrendous. They were doing maintenance on 2 elevators which made it difficult but what made it frustrating was that the other elevators would bypass our floor with one or two people on them. This was a major gripe of just about all passengers. The staff was terrific. We had only one or two exceptions to that review. The Chops Grille was just okay. Giovanni's and Izumi were both fabulous. Exiting the ship at the ports of call could have gone better. In some instances we waited on long lines to get off. The shows were pretty amazing. RC dancers and ice shows were great. The Tenors of Las Vegas did a great job as did the pick pocket. Giovanni, the pianist was awesome...great entertainer...lots of fun. We took a tour to Peggy Cove and also to Kennebunkport. Both were fabulous. Very informative and picturesque. However, the daily activities were just so-so. Very repetitive. Coffee bar on 5 was good and had a nice variety of food. We chose anytime dining. It was mostly good. The Windjammer was okay. Desserts were the same for the most part and were just okay. The sweets in the Windjammer were the same every day. There were a few good things but probably not worth the calories. The one very positive thing was the staff. Most were eager to please and could not be more helpful. This was our first RC cruise. We will probably stick with Celebrity or chose another line in the future. Read Less

Joe and I love cruising. We have always been 'Loyal to Royal' and are Diamond Plus--not that it matters, except it is relevant to our experiences on this cruise. It started out well--the air connections the cruise line arranged worked out well, though they were time-comsuming. We got to the airport in Quebec City tired after 17 hours of traveling. We had asked RCI for an airport to hotel transport (their choice hotel) and were told none were available (18 months before the cruise.) When we got to the airport, there were Royal Caribbean representatives collecting people for transport to the hotel. They would not include us since we had no reservation with them. So we hit the taxi stand. We told the dispatcher there that we wanted to go to the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. He quoted us the price for going to downtown Quebec City. Since we knew no better, we said okay and he called a cab. The driver again asked us where we were going and we told him the Marriott Courtyard. He said 'Which One?', and we were stymied. We thought there was only one, and had no address for it. He claimed there were two and took us to the one downtown. Well, the one downtown was NOT a Courtyard, and was twice the fare it would have cost to get to the 'Courtyard'. So we had to call another cab and pay another fare. Grrrrrr. Checkin the next day was less than perfect--no priority boarding, long lines, and at least one less than friendly cattle herder. However, room was good, dining and wait staff were good, and room attendant was good. Now we get to the really rude awakening: Happy Hour-4:30pm-8pm. This spring we had sailed on the Brilliance on a repositioning cruise from Tampa to Amsterdam. They, like Adventure on this cruise, had a HUGE percentage of Diamond and above cruisers (who but us old geezers and rich whippersnappers have the time for a repositioning cruise?) Unlike Adventure, they had prepared for it. The staff on Brilliance turned their largest 'ballroom' area into a diamond lounge, with a different theme and entertainment every night. We were happy, and the non-diamond passengers were happy because the other bars weren't packed with us monopolizing them for drinks off our allotted 3 a night. Everyone had a relaxing, pleasant voyage. In contrast, on Adventure the 43-seat diamond lounge was FULL from breakfast through 8 pm. The Viking Crown was almost as bad. If you weren't in a seat there by 2:30 pm, you could forget Happy Hour. For us, it isn't just about drinks. This is our socializing time. We enjoy talking to other couples. The ones we meet at Happy Hour have experiences similar to ours. It is easy to start a conversation and one thing leads to another--we have had some really good times in the Diamond Lounge on other cruises, including on Adventure. Sometimes the free drinks we get are Cokes--we're too old for sustained booze. Unlike Brilliance, this time the experience on Adventure was more like Mayhem. It was packed. If you got there at 2:30 so you actually had a seat, it was hard to carry on a conversation with all the people standing around your chair waiting for you to vacate it. The crew appeared powerless to change anything. Their 'fix' for 13 nights of mayhem was a final night show and buffet--both of which were so crowded you couldn't see the show or get to the buffet. Adventure and RCI, you need to do better--MUCH better! Now for the good stuff! The absolute best part of the cruise was the carriage ride in Acadia National Park. After a whole lot of rain and cold, we lucked out and got sunshine and mild temps for our excursion. The draft horses that pulled our 8-passenger wagon were Moses and Molly. It was an hour of absolutely gorgeous fall colors, trees, a driver who carried on a leisurely and intelligent commentary--more like a conversation--with us, stops to watch deer, and just a wonderful time enjoying the world we're blessed with. It was one of those experiences I'll have a hard time ever repeating. Take a look at the picture I'm attaching and you'll get some idea of what I mean. The other really good excursion was to the Anne of Green Gables House. If you've read any of Maude Montgomery's books, you'll really enjoy this one. If you haven't--at least take the walking trails. They are really worth doing. When we were there, it was a slow, dripping rain. We went through the house first. Best thing there was seeing the cupboard where 'the raspberry cordial' was kept. You have to read the book to appreciate it. After heading outside, we took the 'Lover's Leap' path. It was beautiful, and brought back memories of Montgomery's descriptions of where the children played. There were trees, a brook, a bridge across it, and steps leading upward. Definitely a fun adventure. Well, by this time we were soaked, our time to meet the bus was near, and although I wanted to do the other path, I had to go. Hope there's a next time! I'll try to add the picture I took on the path to my uploads. Adventure is a good ship. She has some really good folks in her crew. This was our fourth cruise on her and we enjoyed them all. Captain Szynkarczuk appeared to be very professional, and concerned only with the operation and command of his vessel--a very good thing, considering we had some stormy weather on the cruise, an unscheduled return to port for medical reasons, and some ticklish navigational situations. My impression is that he is a bit uncomfortable around passengers. He could stand to unbend just a bit. We're really not a bad lot. If you haven't taken this cruise, do it. I'm sure RCI will fix the Diamond Lounge problem, and all the Canadian and New England ports are well worth it. I just may go again myself. I want to walk that other path on PEI and take the longer carriage ride at Acadia. See you onboard! Read Less

25th Anniversary trip. Overall we had a great time, however our last cruise was with Disney 15 years ago. The first thing we noticed was the stained carpets and the dirty windows in our balcony state room. Unfortunately the very first thing my wife did on board was clean the glass in or balcony door. The same goes for all the exterior windows on board very grimy and dirty. Our room steward was ok but far from what we expected, not that it was a problem but left dirty towels several time, if we left dirty dishes anywhere in our room other than in obvious places like floor or couch they were not taken out. The food was really good and our waiters were amazing. The bar staff was awesome. The shows were ok but far from the professional shows we expected. This was a group cruise. I was a bit apprehensive about possibly being seasick, but that was not a problem. The stateroom was very nice and comfortable. The ship was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I did not like being constantly “sold.” That was annoying and lacked class. Tacky. The food was mediocre to awful. They had cream soups with no cream in them... in fact I don’t think there was any cream on the ship as we couldn’t find any for our coffee either. The coffee was really really awful. On lobster night we were served a single Maine lobster tail. 3-4 bites of lobster for your supper? Really? Ports of call were Grand Caymen, Costa Maya and Cozumel. All looked like they built Disneyland at the end of the pier. Ww dif one Shord excursion that was cut short and we felt ripped off. Would definitely not choose this cruise line again. Read Less

We knew going in that this was not one of RC's newer ships. We are personally not interested in ships with a passenger capacity of 5,000+ so a "smaller", older ship is usually fine with us. I wonder though if the cruise lines offer lower quality food and amenities on their older ships. The Good: Embarkation was fantastic. We arrived at the port at approximately 11:15 and were on the ship by 11:35. Can't beat that. Crew members were all very friendly. Drinks were excellent, not watered down. Highlights were champagne bar and deck 12 bar above the pool bar. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent, especially the french toast. Ship decor is very nice. Very smooth sail with very little movement. We were always able to easily find four lounge chairs together. Debarkation was smooth and easy. The Bad: The cabin had stains on the couch and the carpet did not appear to be very clean. I wasn't looking for issues but couldn't help but notice an accumulation of dust along the top of the baseboards. I'm not talking a week's worth of dust, I'm talking several weeks. The mattress was more firm than I would like but that is a personal preference and you can't please everyone so no big deal. Our stateroom did not have kleenex in the bathroom despite there being a dispenser for it. I asked the room steward and it was immediately provided however I was informed that kleenex is now a "request only" item. Seriously! A Motel6 provides kleenex! Dinner in the dining room was fair to good. Lunch in the buffet is chaotic with fair food and basically the same offerings every day. The "taco bar" had only hard taco shells, beef chili, and toppings. Burgers and turkey were dry, chicken was good. The So/So: Entertainment - some good, some not so good. Revoiced was excellent. The ship's singers and dancers were only okay. The hypnotist show was not believable to me. The comedian was very good. Most of the live entertainment throughout the day was very good and I enjoy that much more than piped music. Read Less

This cruise consisted of back to back cruises that went to the eastern and western caribbean. The ice show was very good with some of the best jumps I have seen at sea. The cast seemed really into it. The production shows were mostly good but some of the cabaret acts were not. The hypnotists were really not believable and the act seemed rehearsed. The piano player in the Schooner bar was truly bad. The entertainer in the pub was too loud to have a conversation and could even be heard in the promenade facing cabin! Food and service in the main dining room was good, but the windjammer buffet was not an inviting space. Recent remodeling has made this much too hard and too over lit. Everything is white. Loud music, even at early morning breakfast, made this a space to avoid. Who wants loud music at 7:00 am or at dinner when you are trying to hold a pleasant conversation. Even the pool deck in the early morning had overly loud music, even though there were only a few people there having early morning coffee. Usually you can get the same things offered in the main dining room in the buffet, but not on this ship. Deserts were very poor. The line for pizza by the slice was often long. Entertainment in the Royal Promenade was often so loud you had to seek a place where you get away from it instead of staying to watch. Apparently Royal Caribbean believes that if the sound level isn't ear splitingly loud you cannot be having enough fun. They are wrong. Read Less

This was our 3rd cruise. We are working professionals, in our 40's, and have done two Princess cruises prior (2013, 2016). This was our shortest of the three (6 days). Our first impression at embarkation was ... this ship is moderately dated, dirty in the nooks and crannies, and poorly maintained. When we first entered our cabin, the first thing we noticed was the dirty, stained couch. Stains on the carpet, just not clean or kept up. The dining was pretty mediocre, as far as food quality. The food all tasted good, but was never very fresh tasting or looking. The presentation was pretty bland, too. The dinner service at the dining hall was very slow, even when we were among the first people for dinner. The wait staff at dinner seemed rushed and disinterested, pretty minimal conversation or discussion about the food, other than the bare minimum "Our specials tonight are ..." Entertainment was pretty good, not a lot of variety, but the dancers and singers were good. The ice dancers were probably my favorite (and I generally don't enjoy skating shows). The comedians were both entertaining. Three items that were probably deal-breakers for our next cruise: 1) $8.95 charge PER room service order - SAY WHAT?! Had our kids travelled with us, that would've cost us at least $150 extra! 2) Most of the in-room movies were unknowns, B or C movies, AND all were Pay-Per-View, at around $13 each! Again, WHAAAT??!! On Princess, the movies were included, many still in theaters, or at least newer; and 3) The poolside towel policy: check out towels and check them in, or be assessed a $25 CHARGE for each towel "lost"!? Are you kidding me? We are at sea, and those are $2 towels. Where do you think the towels are going? And who is going to take them? Just another way RCI tries to nickel-and-dime customers. The Flow-Rider was always very busy with long lines, the waterslides were fun and at the right time could be a short wait. Lots of kids on this one, but very crowded overall. It is very unlikely that I ever cruise RC again ... never say never, but I doubt it. Just unimpressed with this particular ship and staff. Sorry, RCI, I really wanted to like it. But compared to Princess (Regal), this one lost in spades. Read Less

Sometimes internet did not work or was very slow. I work online so this was important. If I had known this I would not have taken this cruise. After missing a lot of work we were also not offered any refund on internet package. Very disappointing. We were happy with all the staff and the Ice Skating show was great. We ate at the windjammer and the food was good I could always find something that I liked. Windjammer was full of people a lot but we could always find a table. We liked the bar on deck 14 it had a nice view of about 270 degrees out the front of the ship. The water in the shower was not always hot and hate taking cold showers. Read Less

This was our first RC cruise. The ship was beautiful and the service was excellent. We ate in the Windjammer and the food was so much better than Carnival. My husband and I both gained weight. So many deserts, it was hard to choose one so we didnt just have one. If you take this cruise sit in section 12. The wait staff were all so sweet and helpful, I hated to say goodbye to them. We stayed in an inside promonade cabin. It was uncomfortable. Small and no place confortable to sit. It also was loud at times. Our cabin mate was wonderful and did everything he could do to try and soften up our bed but nothing worked. Our ports 1- Labadee is really beautiful, lots of fun in the water. And again the lunch they served was wonderful. 2- PR I love this place. Have been there a couple times. Just wear really comfortable broken in shoes. Don't get blisters like I did. See the fort and the cemetery and eat a mofongo and see if you can find the snow cone man (we couldn't find him this time) lots of walking and lovely shops. 3- St Maartin - we stayed at the boardwalk, shopped some We should have taken a tour. 4- St Kitts - we did the 4x4 and beach. It was ok, saw a lot of the island. The tour people were informative and very nice. We had already seen Brimstone on a prior cruise. If its your first time to the island Brimstone is the way to go. I was not able to get a lounger near the pool. It was always so crowded. My husband is a smoker so he sat at the smoking area on deck 11 all the time. No I will not be booking another cruise for a long time. I was more comfortable on the Carnival Ship. It was cheaper, the food wasn't as good so I didn't eat much and didn't gain weight. Having the smoking area near the pool causes a problem for a couple where one smokes and the other doesn't. if felt like I was always by myself. Read Less

We cruise twice a year, with friends and family. I was excited to try out this ship as it had added the waterslides and had gotten some new updates. Embarkation went smoothly, the ship didn't seem overly crowded, and our room was clean. However, the service was lackluster in the dining room. We waited almost an hour for our main courses to arrive (dinner seating at 8); the waiters seemed rushed; often times our beverages ran out before being refilled, and the food wasn't extraordinary. We ate in Chops Grill for lunch and it was delicious, although there seemed to be only one waiter for the lunch crowd. Dinner in Giovanni's was better; our waitress was phenomenal, but the filet mignon my husband ordered left much to be desired. The shows were lackluster, perhaps because we had seen them before on other ships. We saw a repeat comedian towards the end of the cruise, who used the same jokes when we had seen him on another ship last year. The first comedian at the beginning of the cruise was hilarious, though! We attended both of his shows. The ice skating shows were awesome, those never disappoint. We did have an issue with noise in our stateroom, though, and after four days, they were able to reassign us to another room. Overall, this ship was ok. This was the first cruise that I was disappointed with service in the main dining room. Our room attendants were very nice and courteous and kept everything clean. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I got an email from Royal Caribbean with a "great" deal and it was the time we had planned to go on vacation. The cruise was not up to the RC standards of my previous two cruises with RC. The staff were unhelpful and rude at times and just ignored us the rest of the time. They changed our dining room table number, which was fine, but neglected to tell us that it was for the entire cruise. When we went to go to our table we were rudely told that our table was changed for the rest of the cruise. When the manager realized that he had been rude to us, he tried really hard to make it up to us but still couldn't get it right. He offered to send our dinner to our cabin one night and didn't send the appetizers. He offered wine, but we don't drink wine, and sent a box of stock desserts to our cabin. In our cabin was an advertisement for $12.99/day internet. When I took it to the guest services desk we were laughed at for wanting the internet for this amount when it was normally $15.99/day. Our stateroom attendant, Tu, was awesome. My need for lactose free milk was always attended to happily except for the coffee bar on the 5th level. The ship was clean and tidy. Our cabin was dripping from the vent and it was taken care of immediately. I will think again before I take a Royal Caribbean cruise. Read Less

Wanted to go to eastern Caribbean for daughters birthday we had the perfect cabin 1814 panoramic view on the 12 th deck our attendant was ok but not the wow attendants we have had in the past think he hated his job the casino was horrible constantly changing dealers got worse attitudes every time the most dismal part of the cruise was the MDR while the wait staff was great the food was inedible horrible over or undercooked just plain awful I have been on many Royal ships and cruises but this was terrible the pizza in promenade cafe was very good but the girl with the glasses attendant was beyond rude the port at San Juan was wonderful the fort was breathtaking and I can’t wait to get back to see all of it st Martin was just ok st kitts was terrific such nice people and good food which was a relief after the slop served on the ship even Giovanni’s was horrid I’m not kidding while I remain loyal to Royal I am diamond on my next cruise if I run into the variety and quality of food like this again I will be forced to look elsewhere for my 3 or 4 cruises a year so sad because in my opinion royal needs to stop penny pinching and give the cruisers what they pay for Read Less

My wife and I are diamond members of RCI, with over 128 nights of cruising on RCI. I purchased this cruise a year ago, the price was good, and we had not cruised on this ship before so we bit. We were Royal fans but the fun is wearing off and cruising with Royal is becoming just average. The things that attract us to cruising is 1. Price, 2. dance venues, 3 the service and food and of course the ship itself. The ports of call are ok if you do your homework before getting on board, so have a plan so you don't blow your days out there. The ship seems to be in a clean and in serviceable condition. The interior cabin was small but the steward did a good job keeping us happy. The main dinning on deck three was ridiculously slow and the food was just so-so. Most of the week we just visited the buffet which was good. Unfortunately the Boleros dance club is right next to the casino, were the smoke pores out and ruins a good evening with excellent live bands. I could smell the smoke on deck six, what a shame. I don't like smelling of smoke and leaving there with a headache, so after three nights I had had enough. I thought the show in the Theater were better than average and the ice show was great. The diamond club was ok if that's your thing to sit and drink for hours on end. Disembarkation on the last day was haphazard, in RCI tradition of ship of that size, with one person directing foot traffic. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the timing, between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Although we are veteran cruisers we had never sailed RCCL. The overall cruise was good (what's not to like on a cruise?). We found the staff generally friendly and accommodating. The main dining room provided surprisingly good food with superior service from our waiter, Joel, his assistant, Igety(sp?) and Amit, our section leader. Passengers, on the other hand, were exceptionally rude and ill mannered. Why, when you have a fixed table assignment, do you need to push others out of the way to get into the MDR? We also encountered some rude behavior by staff in the spa - remember the Julia Roberts character in "Pretty Woman"? These incidents were, however, isolated and did not significantly mar our overall experience. But we did come home with a few hundred dollars that had been earmarked for the spa, but went unspent. We did this cruise with friends on their first cruise. Quite the experience. First the good: we were in 6640, balcony cabin. Embarkation was quick easy and painless! It was very nice, good location and the bed was great. We didn't mind the lower half of balcony obstructed. The promenade deck was just below us with all the fun stuff and coffee shop! The staff were polite and friendly for the most part. The comedy shows were excellent and so was the ice show. This was our 9th cruise and with husband's retirement in a year we are looking forward to more! So to the negatives: The staff in the main dining room where we ate every night was pretty out of sync. The waits were long, food was either cold (in the beginning, they did do better later) wine was very slow as well. I got the feeling they were short-staffed. It was just chaos the first two-three nights. There was no Somalier so the wait staff brought wine - also very slow in the beginning. Getting info on just what was allowed on the drink package in the bars was also a big problem on the first day. The coffee in buffet and dining room was awful. Thank goodness for the drink package where we could get Starbucks every day. We also were on special diets because of health issues. Low carb, which means no bread, rice, potatoes, crackers, cereals. The cruise ship caters to regular eaters - I understand, but the lack of variety got boring. Carrots and broccoli every single night. The next big problem we had was the fact that on the last day was we were in a hurry to disembark to catch a flight - we had to deal with the ship charging us for drinks they claimed we were "sharing"!! No one asked us if we did this (we did not!), they just stuck it on our bill. This is such poor customer service! The buffet was also a problem in that apparently the workers in there are strictly for bussing tables. They do not bring coffee, water or flatware. So then you have to go back up to where there are tons of people with food plates and get all up in that mess again. Seems like this is a poor way to do it. The buffets are crowded enough without all the flatware being up there too. We had a few other problems too but the lack of service and the trying to sneak a charge on our bill really made me angry. We, because of price and spouse are "Loyal to Royal". But I'm serious thinking not such a great idea. If they are going to continue using older ships they really need to stop a day and CLEAN them thoroughly!! Entertainment was Excellent!! This class ship (as we sailed back-to-back with the Navigator of the Seas) won't be our choice anytime soon. **The plus is the food was good and entertainment also very good. The service in the dining room was lacking and definitely not what I would expect from Royal Caribbean. We had a wonderful excursion at St. Kitts, we've visited the island but never took one before. I highly recommend. It was for the Fort and Plantation house. Great Price and 5 star if you like history & views. Royal Caribbean needs new activities for folks that don't wish to sunbath & drink entire trip. Heck, I'd enjoy history lectures of islands visiting, etc. Just something new please. Read Less

I had never traveled on a Royal ship in the past so this was my first. The ship was nice with many bells and whistles I had not experienced in the past. I did not like that the Windjammer had restricted hours of service as I have pretty much been used to on other cruises. I was not crazy about the shows on the Adventure, but Mercedes and Isaac were fantastic. I was really hoping for a WOW factor for this cruise, but I was disappointed overall. Service was great for my cabin and the few dinners we had in the dining room. Lastly, I'm not one to complain a lot, but this was an 11th anniversary cruise and I ordered yellow roses to my room and when we arrived they had red roses which are not my wife's favorites. Maybe that got me off on a bad footing for the cruise. Read Less

The cruise was average. We had great service in the dining room in the evening. The entertainment was ok. There was a comedian that was good (with puppets). and the ice show was excellent. When I had lunch in the dining room I ordered hot tea. Each time, the tea never came. Thankfully my dinner waiter stopped over to ask how the service was and if he could get me anything. Otherwise, I'd still be waiting on the tea. Also dessert never came at lunch dining room dining. There were too many sea days with nothing much to do. Too crowded in the solarium to find a chair. On the pool deck it was loud when playing a movie. Did do a wine tasting (that was and extra charge) and it was very informative and fun. The smoke from the casino was traveling into the lounges on the front and the back side of it. They really need to do a better job of containing the smoke in the casino. I am a crown and Anchor member and I was not welcomed back or given a listing of what was loaded as perks on my sea pass. When I inquired at the help desk, they told me they are loaded on my sea pass and that was it. I asked for a listing and they told me there isn't one. (the friends I was traveling with each got one from the desk). The manager at the time, told me this. I tried several times at the crown and anchor desk on deck 7. Everytime I went to see if someone was on duty, no one was there. Even if it was time that said they would be there. After 4x, I just gave up. It was consuming too much time. I had not been to Labdee for years. It has been built up and had many more things to do. I liked that they had locals working there but didn't like that they expected tips to take the lounge chairs down and were angry if you would help yourself to chairs. I didn't take any cash onto the island, just wanted to relax. They should probably just pay these folks a bit of a salary and spare guests getting asked every several feet if they want a chair and hang about until you reach for your wallet. St Martin is always a great stop and Puerto Rico there is a lot to do. boarding and unloading went smoothly. without too much waiting. Customs was not much waiting either. Didn't do any excursions because of the cost and nothing really jump out. Spa service was very good. Actually all the employees were very good. Didn't like the promenade area. The shops are much smaller and had very little in them. They put out tables along the promenade with products on them and caused a log jam of people. The pub was very popular and had people spilling out of it into the promenade. The sushi place was much larger and hardly had any people in it. Maybe they should swap out the spaces? The ship was sparsely decorated for Christmas. That was pretty surprising. Had a nice time but it is hard to not look back and remember what cruising was like years ago and what it has now become. A nickle and dime-ing extravaganza. Read Less
