Liked the itinerary - which unfortunately was changed - once we had boarded. Apparently Cunard were well aware that the ship had a cracked propeller -so our 15 night cruise was changed to include a three day stay in Cadiz - in a dry dock. As the ship was off next on a lengthy ‘ round the world ‘ trip - why not fit the repair in to that cruise ? We were told by the Captain that it was a rare ...
There was so much that went wrong it would take too long to write but in brief, no vaccination checks at departure, ship full of cold/cough/covid with no extra precautions or cleansing/sanitizing, Cunard blatantly lied about dry dock fiasco, propeller was in Cadiz on previous cruise where an attempt to replace was unsuccessful, they knew before we boarded, Lisbon would be cancelled confirmed by ...
Having sailed many times with Cunard we looked forward to the Christmas / New Year cruise. We were supposed to have priority boarding - didn't happen. We had asked to be seated on a table for 8 for the evening meal. Didn't happen - got a table for 4 and maitre d' not interested. No cocktail parties - because of Covid but 1000+ people dined together at each sitting and similar numbers in the ...
WE chose this cruise , as being frequent cruisers on other lines we had heard of Cunard 5 star reputation?
It was to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and a 70th Birthday so very special.
We found the ship despite the Christmas decorations tired and cold particularly in the dining and public areas,
The food was good, but limited and repetitive in main dining and the buffet ...
Did the Xmas cruise after a break of 3 years due to covid. Glad that all the important features and standards have been maintained. Yes there were changes but were all beyond Cunard control. International legislation regarding the environment and Covid regulations meant that, just like life in the uk, things had to change. Life or cruising will never be the same again. The food, staff ,service and ...
We love Xmas cruising and have cruised many times with P & O. Disappointing that every time we cruise standards get lower. This time cleaning poor in cabins and around ship. Cabin not vacuumed at all. Drinks selection in bars was poor. They are definitely under staffed in restaurants and bars. Difficult to get a drink. Waiters rushed off their feet although ours were very good. Shops used ...
It went to the Canaries, no airport waiting and late availability.
From getting onboard the my holiday app was temperamental to say the least.
Everything needed booking through it including theatre etc. by continually going on there I was able to book most entertainment and some restaurants for 6 pm, but Christmas Day and New Years Eve showed that 12.15 am was only time available.
Bought ...
As loyal customers of P&O, having been on and thoroughly enjoyed several cruises a few years ago, we were eagerly looking forward to this special cruise. (Two milestone birthdays and a wedding anniversary celebration)
However, much to our dismay, the 2022 Christmas cruise on the P&O’s Iona has been an absolute disaster and a total rip off. Far too many passengers for the facilities provided, ...
Christmas and New Year cruise - ship absolutely packed but no where near enough staff. Staff were rushed off their feet in the restaurants so lacked any time for pleasantries. That was after you had queued for ages or took your chance with the virtual queue app which would just remove you from the queue for no reason. Everyday we had to reinstall the app. Endless queues at reception who then ...
This was the first time my wife and I have had the chance to enjoy Christmas together on a cruise due to work commitments. We have been on Iona previously (three times) and enjoyed it, the ship is beautiful. However this time the ship was full and it seemed to me there were not enough staff. The first formal evening was chaos. There were no places to eat. Everyone was being told to join either the ...
