Grand European Dream

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Baldur

It was a deal that we could simply not refuse. Traveling on a Viking Cruise is just a pleasure for the common individual as well as anyone else. The staff and officers make your journey a comfortable and convenient experience. The food was excellent, the excursions were very educational and informative, and the weather was very good for those traveling. Our vacation almost did not take ...

Great cities, fantastic food, colorful and very informed tour guides, and extremely friendly fellow travelers. Only disappointment would be selection of items on german themed dinner night. Optional tour of Schönbrunn Palace had to little free time to explore palace grounds and gardens. This was our first cruise with Viking and we are already recommending it to our traveling friends. We ...

Nicest vacation ever

I have visited 41 countries over my last 90 years and this cruise was the best vacation I have ever had. The entire operation was very professional, and it was obvious that everyone involved was well trained and motivated. It was my first river cruise, and it is a wonderful concept, staying in one room while visiting several countries and cultures. The dining room was especially well done, the ...

Pre-and post-cruise extensions were the best part of the experience. The bus from Amsterdam to Frankfurt was the worst.

My wife and I did a Grand European Cruise on Viking Cruise line, August 14-28, with a pre-cruise extension in Burges, Belgium (August 11-14) and a post-cruise extension in Prague (August 28-31). Because of water levels, the Rhine was not navigable so we took a bus from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. The pre-and post-cruise extensions were the best part of the experience. The bus from Amsterdam to ...

This was our first Viking and river cruise. Our travel companions had done the Paris to Normandy and raved about it. We picked this cruise because we loved the itinerary and we were able to visit many cities and countries without having to pack and unpack. Viking was outstanding, it definitely deserves it's excellent reviews. The staff is amazingly professional yet very friendly. The food was ...

We had previously sailed from Bucharest to Budapest on Viking and we wanted to complete the cruise by sailing from Budapest to Amsterdam. We delayed for a year because of COVID. The Ports of Call were all interesting. and Vikings included tours were fine. The tour guides were knowledgeable. We were tested for COVID daily, Thus was not an issue and gave one a sense of security. The ship was ...

Best value for the length of trip. Food was amazing. Staff was incredible. Coming took care of us from the moment we arrived in Budapest to the airport in Amsterdam. We then linked another Viking cruise, Paris to Normandy, and the transfer was seamless. Viking did an incredible job. This was our first river cruise, so we wanted to make the best of our travel time. Linking the two ...

My sister-in-law has been on this cruise three times and recommended it very highly. It lived up to our expectations, and more. The service, tour guides, on board staff, stateroom and food were all exceptional. Housekeeping staff were outstanding. The room was tidied and the bed was made more than once a day (a schedule allowed time for a nap almost every day.) The excursions were interesting ...

Magnificent exposure to Europe via a river cruise!

Started in Prague, not on the river, and Budapest. The history, the people, the land, the architecture (Cathedrals, Churches, towns/villages, castles, bridges, etc.) were marvelous! Meals on the boat were spectacular both in variety and presentation beginning with the local cuisine. With the many shore excursions you had the opportunity to try the best of food the various ports had to offer. ...

A bucket list trip that may be the only time we do this ... wanted to ‘see it all’! We joined the ship in Amsterdam. We were met at the airport by Viking reps and quickly taken to the Viking Baldur at the port. Great assistance with luggage at the airport - getting luggage onto the ship was a bit sketchy - minimal assistance. Departed on time. The Included shore excursions throughout were ...
