I also did a live review that's much more comprehensive than this one, so search for Live from MSC World Europa. NYE Cruise, December 29, 2023 out of Barcelona on the MSC boards.
Pre-Cruise: We stayed 3 nights pre-cruise in Barcelona at the NH Collection Grand Hotel Calderon in Barcelona. I have American Express Platinum, which got me some extra credit and perks, but it was nice, clean, modern ...
Our family cruise over the festive season had had to be cancelled three times because of the tragic pandemic. The cruise was probably the last occasion we could get our immediate family of three generations together for an extended vacation so there was much excitement when we finally set foot on board after all the disappointments over the previous three years.
We nevertheless approached ...
The ports in Morocco attracted me as we had never been anywhere like that before. The shore excursions did not meet our needs so we went elsewhere. The cabin steward did not seem to be on the same ship with us as she seemed to have no idea what was expected of her. The food in the MDR was far below standard. I had trouble fining something on the menu that I wanted to eat many nights. The ...
The itinerary was the main draw for booking this cruise. We were not disappointed. For the most part, port to city transportation was explained in advance and easy to understand.
The ship does feel a little older and worn with some minor maintenance issues to be addressed.
We appreciated the high-quality food in both the main dining room and the buffet. The cruise didn’t feel full, and we ...
Had one night in Barcelona pre cruise and arrived at the ship at our assigned time of 12.30pm. Luggage taken from us and then we were immediately checked in and on board in five minutes. The last time we were on Infinity was in 2016 and yes, she is a little jaded in places now like the pool changing room where there were no locker keys and broken locks on toilet doors but generally we found her to ...
Our first cruise since 2012. Everything on Marina lived up to what we remember in terms of great and attentive service. there are always a few crew members who show indifference but the vast majority were wonderful. The measure of service is whether the service during the last 36 hours of a cruise was a good as the first 36. Oceania pretty much nailed it.
The Spanish Market dinners in the ...
This was our first Transatlantic, second time on the Apex and over 10th time on Celebrity. The ship is beautiful, huge and was crowded all the time. In that regard, we were so happy that we booked a sky suite. The retreat was our haven on all sea days, and for pre dinner drinks, and afternoon snacks. But for those in a suite, your "butler" with a new title, is now a cabin attendant with a ...
THE FOOD:
The food on this ship was, overall, the best I've seen in 30 years of cruising. Even the Oceanview (buffet) was great. Not every single item was to my liking, but there was always something delicious available to eat. We ate at Blue, Luminae, Eden and Raw on 5, and Oceanview, and every meal I had was ranked from good to great. The crab cake and beef wellington in Eden are the best ...
We chose this cruise because a Transatlantic cruise has been on our bucket list, we liked the itinerary, and we had two previous enjoyable cruises on HAL (one on Oosterdam and one on Zaandam). We have been fortunate that all three HAL cruises have been in a Neptune Suite, which is a special experience.
This cruise didn't go as planned, because a large storm caused an itinerary change. We had ...
My wife and I decided to finally take that European dream vacation we always wanted, and NCL had several cruises that were appealing. We decided to try the new-ish ship, the NCL Prima, knowing we'd have a great time... and it was that. We've got a lot of great memories now of a wonderful cruise. However, that doesn't mean that NCL doesn't have some work to do to improve on the Prima (previously ...
