being from Australia there are no other options for us to cruise to this destination. Being able to start in Buenos Aries and fly to our port via a charter was very handy. Once at port we were provided the added tour option the the national park, don't miss this. We were welcomed on board and from then on the standard did not diminish. Every aspect of the cruise especially the calm sea across Drakes Passage was a bonus in both directions. The crew are friendly accommodating. The expeditions by Zodiac once in the Antartica by experts was second to none. Their knowledge each day , the shore excursions were fantastic. Each night entertainment was provided with very professional persons. The shows varied and were of a high quality. The captain and expedition leaders were always available to provide reports of the days excursions. Sightings of wildlife such as whales etc was accommodated with the ship being diverted , stopped or speed reduce in speed to give all passengers the best experience that could be. There was never a delay in the embarking to shore to view wildlife and research stations bearing in mind the limit to visit is restricted. Language spoken was French and English, On this particular cruise the large majority spoke English was frustrating as the translation was often vague when an announcement was made or information being provided. This could be a consideration to remedy by basing the population numbers on each cruise. Overall the most memorable experience using Ponant cruise lines and the ship. Definately will consider the cruise line again Read Less

We wanted to sail to Cape Horn. Unfortunately the weather was too bad for us to go ashore at the monument and one of our other scheduled landings too. However, our cabin was extremely comfortable with a huge window. The crew were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The talks on board were interesting and informative and we enjoyed the landings which were possible in the weather conditions. We would certainly recommend the cruise and the ship. The food was good and plentiful. You should assume that you will have several hours to kill in Ushuaia before boarding but there are many coffee shops and restaurants to stay out of the cold. Disembarkation at Punta Arenas was rather slow. I would go again if I could be sure that we could have fair weather to land on Cape Horn Island and Magdalena ( penguins) Island. We saw lovely Patagonian scenery and some wildlife but you have to assume that you will encounter bad weather as there are no guarantees. Do take cold weather clothes, we wore EVERYTHING we took! The winds can be very fierce and cold even when it's sunny. Read Less
