Cruise ship comfort, small ship cruising on the Mississippi

I am an experienced cruiser who knows the coasts and many international destinations, but never have been on or around the Mighty Mississippi. This cruise offered a comfortable ship with an interesting itinerary. The 8-day, 7-night package included a pre-cruise overnight hotel in downtown New Orleans, allowing some time to explore and an easy transfer to Queen of the Mississippi. To see more of ...

This was our 11th cruise with American Cruise Lines so we are clearly fans of the concept and experience. You have to understand what you are buying into - same price as Silversea, etc. but a totally different vibe. Yes, wine and beer at lunch and dinner, but nothing high end and very limited selection. One day the bulk chardonnay was not unpacked and the next day it was not chilled. Yes, some ...

Location of cruise and area that interested us. Had been on New Orleans to Memphis cruise in past and wanted to try different area of river. Much different views unencumbered by the levees lower on the river. Staff was more than accommodating. A lock on he river was inoperable and the staff went above and beyond to redirect the boat to other destinations and made the disembarkation have many ...

We chose a 4 night cruise because we had not been on a cruise in the last fifty years and wanted to be sure we would like it before taking a longer one. We were treated to an overnight stay in New Orleans the night before embarkation and had time to see some of the sights in the French Quarter. We were collected at our hotel and conveyed to the docks by bus. Passengers could dress as formally ...

Our friends and my husband and I always wanted to do a Mississippi River cruise. Chose American Cruise Lines. Sailed on the Queen of the Mississippi. We had a wonderful time. Cabin had ample room, balcony had room for 2 chairs and a table (about 30" rd). Entertainment was good. Plenty of on board activities, games, books to read, a putting green on the upper deck, some work out equipment and ...

Choose this as it was in US. Really liked the all inclusive feature of hotel the night before the cruise, tips and most shore excursions. The onboard lectures were informative of the Civil War, and the river. Entertainment were local musicians and their program reflected the area we were located. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food reflected the South, liked the fact one could order a half ...

We embarked from a dock very near to the St. Louis Gateway Arch. The walk down to the boat was somewhat steep but assistance was offered and we left our luggage with crew near the roadway. River travel is laid back and easy. We had only one morning of rain so we had a lot of time to watch as the captain and crew navigated the five story Queen through the many locks on the Mississippi as ...

Traveling from a northern plain state we cruised from Memphis, Tennessee to New Orleans, LA. It was interesting to see the differences in the history and cultural influences as we moved further south. The shore excursions were great history lessons. The activities while cruising were okay, but not to my interest. Our jazz themed cruise had some great entertainment, but I would have liked more ...

My 89 year old mother, my sister and brother and i took a wonderful trip on the American Cruise Lines's Queen of the Mississippi. The ship's staff services were impeccable and could not have been more attentive. Such a breath of fresh air to encouter so many wonderful young men and women from the USA staffing the ship. It was refreshing to converse with each one on their future plans in the ...
