"We booked our family of 12 on the NCL Getaway's New Years' week cruise 10.5 months in advance. The ship offered so much fun for our six grandchildren ages 7-17 with its 5 water slides and ropes course that we knew..."Read More

1-10 of 721 Norwegian Getaway Cruise Reviews for Romantic Cruises to the Eastern Caribbean
Please keep in mind this review is rather dated and some events, destinations etc. may no longer be offered. We decided to take this cruise as a number of our friends were going on it to help celebrate a mile-stone birthday.
Pre-cruise
We love going out of Miami and each time have stayed at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel. We get a bay view so we can see all the cruise ships lined up ...
Here's the good: The ship was great, I liked the layout, lots to do. We did our own excursions on land, but we liked all the ports; especially the variety - all 4 days were different. NCL's private caye was better than expected; just go knowing it will be a relaxing easy going day, and you will enjoy your time there. The margharita at the land shark rank one of the best I've ever had. ...
A family member had gone on the sister ship ,Breakaway last year and had a wonderful experience. My husband and I went on the Getaway this year with those family members and found it to be overcrowded. The Atrium is where many activities are held but is not large enough for the crowds that show up. There are not enough chairs so people crowd and squish around the atrium and it makes it very ...
This was my second cruise experience. My review of this ship will be in comparison with our prior cruise with Royal Caribbean.
First, the ship was overrun with children. Children at bars, shows, pools, just about everywhere. The adult pool was supposed to be kid free until about 5 pm, and the staff did a good job enforcing it. However, some of the hot tubs around the pool were family friendly ...
This is our 12th cruise and we chose Getaway because the dates fit in nicely with vacation tume that our friends were taking. We were yet to have traveled to the Eastern Carribean, after coming off the Escape last Feb. we were very excited about Norwegian as we had a ball on that ship.
Embarkation was the smoothest of any ship I have been on. Very organized and boarding was on time, in fact ...
Let's start with the check in process. CRAZY!!! Arrive for early boarding between 10-1030. Wait. Then get moved into a Large waiting room to sit for another hour. HMM. At least they provide you coffee and Juice while you wait. Once they call your group to board, Chaos begins as everybody tries to board out of turn.
Sea Days.. Get up before the sun and get you deck chairs!!!! Most are taken ...
We have done Disney Cruise Line (Dream) in the past and I had wonderful experience. It made we want to do more cruises with my kids. The value of Norwegian Getaway 7 day eastern Caribbean seemed good. However, it was just ok and a bit disappointing.
Ship: Seemed nice. Very clean for the most part. Felt spacious.
Cabin: Spa Balcony. Smallish. I wish there was a better option for ...
This was my first cruise with Norweigan, and I am never going back. Starting with embarkation, the process was painful and confusing. It took several hours longer than expected and when we got on, every part of the ship was already packed with people. During the safety briefing, we were screamed at to shut up and there was broken glass on the floor. There was also broken glass on my parents deck ...
We were recommended NCL by a friend who had previously sailed with them and said they were worth a try and boy was she correct. We have only ever done one other cruise before and that was with Disney which we all loved so there was a lot to live up to.
Embarkation on to the ship was really straight forward and easy.We arrived at the port at around 11:20 and were on the ship no longer than an ...
We selected this cruise without realizing it was going to be a Halloween cruise. Big mistake. We’ve been on the NCL Getaway before and loved it - great layout, lovely “waterfront” options.... a very nice, well-designed ship.
Well, for this cruise, many groups (of all ages) happily used the “Free 3rd & 4th guests” promo to pack their cabins with 4 people - it was like a spring break cruise ...
