HAL Heavenly Holiday

Noordam – October 20/13 Mediterranean and Tran-Atlantic cruise We love cruising and we particularly love cruising on Holland America ships. We'd had a lovely long cruise in the spring and did not plan on this holiday but the magic word 'Sale' appeared and we could not resist. We have taken more than a dozen trans-Atlantic cruises in the past so there had to be new (to us) ports of call to tempt ...

We began our cruise from Civitavecchia, Italy on October 31st, 2013. Yes, it was Halloween. We had enjoyed beautiful weather in Rome for five days prior to embarkation. The temperatures ranged between 23 and 26C every day with beautiful sunshine. We never experienced one drop of rain until our last port of call at the Azores. More about that later. We had arranged for a transfer with RomeCabs to ...

This was our first TA and, hopefully, not our last! We sailed 16 days Ft. Lauderdale to Rome. EMBARKATION: Smooth and easy from the port. Arrived at 11 AM and there were no lines to get checked in. Waited until noon before we were all let aboard by group numbers. Went to our room and dropped off our carry ons, called for reservations in the Canaletto and went to the MDR for lunch. Did tour of ...

From the steward who offered us a blanket while we were lounging in a deck chair to the Lido deck outside rear deck staff who treated us like royalty despite no gratuity earned on tea, coffee and water, we were spoiled from start to finish. Efficient boarding and disembarking, perfect service in our room with fruit and ice fresh every day.The cleaning was excellent and the kitchens and service ...

This was our second trans Atlantic cruise and third cruise on Holland America. We enjoy repositioning cruises because of the number of sea days and avoiding the long flight home. We had spent 17 days in Italy, 7 in Florence and 10 in Rome. We decided to use the HAL transfer from Rome to Civitvecchia. We took a cab from our apartment near Trevi Fountain to the Visconti Place because it was ...

This was a 21-day cruise that started in Civitavecchia, Italy and ended in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It combined two HAL cruises: a 7-day cruise with stops in Livorno (Florence, Pisa), Monaco, Barcelona, Caligari (Sardinia), Sicily (Palermo), and then back to Civitavecchia followed by a 14-day cruise that stopped at Alicante, Malaga, Cadiz, and Madeira before heading on a 7-day voyage across the ...

My wife and I are not "cruise" people(except on our own boats), however we are retired and have time available so decided to travel to Europe by sea rather than fly. We chose the Holland America vessel "Noordam" on the basis of it'scheduled dates, as it arrived in Citvitavecchia, Rome, from Fort Lauderdale just before we had booked a villa in Tuscany. Our thoughts on the vessel and trip ...

Noordam Cruise Review This was our first cruise ever, for which we chose Holland America, based on its legacy, reviews and family experiences. We are a couple from the Netherlands in our late forties. We booked our cruise at a specialized cruise agency, which helped us at many of our first timer questions. Prior to our cruise, we booked a hotel in Rome for the weekend and ...

My wife and I recently took the Noordam transatlantic cruise from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale as a 25th wedding anniversary present to each other. We normally do the "all inclusive" resorts in the Caribbean, so we are used to the big tour operator system and tactics. Our price included air from Toronto, which made the whole trip less than $140 a day including taxes. The transfer to the ship was a ...

After flying from Vancouver, B.C. on April 1, we boarded HAL Noordam on April 3 in Fort Lauderdale.  We know that this would be a great cruise when the taxi dropped us and we saw the smiling faces of the crew who were waiting to assist disabled passengers and we were right!  Embarkation took only minutes and then we started what would be 26 incredible days of pampering, wonderful food, interesting ...
