(10:15 a.m EST) -- Seabourn has named soprano Sarah Brightman as godmother to Seabourn Encore. Brightman will name the new luxury ship at a christening ceremony in Singapore January 7, 2017.

Brightman might be best known for her roles in "The Phantom of the Opera" and other Broadway and West End musicals. More recently, she has been at the forefront of the "classical crossover" musical genre, and her duet with Andrea Bocelli, "Time to Say Goodbye," was a best-selling single.

"Sarah Brightman embodies the style and sophistication, the talent and innovation, the playfulness and inviting warmth that create the unique atmosphere guests enjoy onboard every Seabourn vessel," said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, in a company statement.

The 600-passenger Seabourn Encore will be the cruise line's largest ship. Featuring the work of renowned interior designer Adam Tihany, the all-suite, all-balcony vessel will feature a high ratio of space per passenger, multiple restaurants (including The Grill by Thomas Keller), a water sports marina and an exclusive top-deck area with private cabanas for rent. During its maiden season, Seabourn Encore will sail to the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand and the Mediterranean.
