(12:15 p.m. EDT) -- An electrical outage aboard Oceania's Regatta early Friday morning delayed the luxury ship's return to its New York homeport by several hours.
Oceania spokeswoman Susan Robison said backup generators allowed the vessel to operate normally, but U.S. Coast Guard protocol required the ship to wait for an escort to port, which resulted in a late arrival.
Due to the delay, the ship arrived in New York around noon. Embarkation for the subsequent sailing, a 14-night Autumn Vista voyage, will also be delayed until Friday afternoon. Passengers booked on the upcoming sailing are currently being notified.
"At this time we are not anticipating any additional issues," Robison said, when asked whether the delay would impact the next voyage. "We expect to arrive in our first port of call, Newport, as scheduled."
