Silversea Launches New Cafe Concept

Silversea Cruises -- which over the past year has been emphasizing its Italian roots, from in-suite toiletries to its elegant spokeswoman Isabella Rossellini -- is further expanding its Mediterranean ambience by transforming the hitherto internationally influenced Terrace Cafe into La Terrazza. The dinner-only restaurant, which launches first on Silver Shadow this month and then on Silver Wind in September, was created by Marco Betti, proprietor of Antica Posta restaurants in Florence and Atlanta.

La Terrazza, which will also be in place on Silver Cloud and Silver Whisper by the end of the year, will feature an a la carte menu that emphasizes a blend of rustic and nouvelle Tuscan traditions.

Dishes on La Terrazza's menu on Silver Shadow, for instance, range from Scaloppine diVitella alla Romana to Pappa al Pomodoro and from Ravioli al Burro e Salvia to Crostini con Ragu d'Anatra e Fegatini di Pollo.

In the evenings, La Terrazza will take the place of the line's Terrace Cafe, its daytime casual eatery. At dinner, the buffet area in the Terrace Cafe had featured a revolving series of international menus.
