choose this cruise because it fit our timeline and location. to begin with embarkation was 2.5 hr in to get to desk to get on the ship. the line was close to a mile along. parking for the cruise was $20 a day to park our car .once on the ship cabin was fine and went to supper on the 1st night ... seated in the aisle to go to the kitchen in the taste dining area and supper for that evening took 2 ...

Our First Cruise

This cruise was chosen by my sister. There were 8 of us on this cruise and we all enjoyed it. We went deep sea fishing in Roatan, which turned out to be a dud. Nit a bite, not a nibble, and the boat had only 4 poles out for the 6 people on board. I felt we should have gotten something, a voucher for onboard gambling, a dinner or something. I know there is no guarantee you will catch fish, but these ...

Big ship..book early reservations

We have been on 10 cruises and this ship was the largest. 4000 people and we did not notice it to be overcrowded in any one place with the exception of O'Sheehans on one day following an excursion. Book your reservations to activities early; ie specialty restaurants and shows . This will save you from aggravation later. The cruise was very enjoyable in many ways. We noticed there were only one ...

The breakaway is a Beautiful ship with a wonderful crew The speciality restaurants were all outstanding Both the food and the service! We enjoyed the waterfront area both during dining service and just as a quiet place to read during the day. The garden Cafe was clean with a good selection of foods. We had a balcony port aft. 9th deck. The room was good but the bed was in need of ...

What I did like about this cruise is that we got a cheap upgrade to a balcony on the forward of the ship. We arrived at the port at 9am and were surprised to get parked so quickly especially in NYC. The Embarkment went well. The food, the steward, and cleanliness was all good. Food was available 24/7 and not just junk food like pizza. The shows were all good except the Rock of Ages show was not ...

My husband and I took our honeymoon on the Breakaway the week of April 8th. We are from the Boston area, and have gone on the Dawn prior to the Breakaway. We love NCL because of the Freestyle aspects of cruising. Getting on the ship was simple. We boarded very shortly after arriving to the terminal. Our room was even ready! Being on the balcony as we passed the Statue of Liberty and Ellis ...

Shows were spectacular! Food awesome! Service excellent! Specialty restaurants excellent also. Thanks so much to executive chef Kevin Greene for personally delivering me sugar free desserts every day! So awesome. Made my trip so special. To top it off, hit a royal flush in the casino! Negatives: ncl collects a lot of extra money on bingo, deal or no deal, etc. prizes are small in ...

We were warned!

We had only done one cruise previously on a different cruise line. I booked this one for my wife, myself and two kids (21yo special needs son and 15yo daughter). I chose this specific cruise because we could cruise out of NYC and avoid paying for flights to FL. In hindsight, given the weather (which obviously isn't NCL's fault) I made a bad decision; I could've paid the price to fly to FL, ...

We choose Norwegian primarily for the Kids Sail Free and the Unlimited Beverage Package deal but we did also talk with friends who have previously sailed. Overall, we had a nice time. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. We found the ship to be very clean, hygiene at dining was encouraged and appreciated, there was a good variety of entertainment and the games were fun. There were a ...

Avoid cruising on NCL when the boat is about to go for drydock.

We cruised on this boat in its inaugural year. They had their A-rated staff and everything worked flawlessly. It has gone downhill since. This time was different. Clearly, this cruise was the last on this ship before dry dock. Much of the ship was in disrepair and in need of some easy maintenance that nobody had time or budget to do. MANY small problems with maintenance compounded to ...
