We hopped into a taxi van which wasn't super cheap, so we ended up not taking enough money for other things at the private beach we drove to. We still enjoyed playing in the sand and swimming for a little while. We had to be back on ship by 1pm, so this didn't allow for as much time as the other ports. We did make time to purchase a few souveniers before boarding and I felt it was a good day! Read Less

nothing to do here except drink or shop. You have to take a taxi 25 miles to find anything and even then it was not much.

We just went to Port Lucaya in Freeport and did some shopping. Nothing too exciting. Easy enough to get off the boat and catch a roundtrip cab. It's $10 each way.

We got off the ship to wander through the little bit of shopping that's available at the port. Then it poured and we stood under a shelter waiting for it to stop before returning to the ship. We were told ahead of time that there's really nothing to see close to the ship and that it wasn't safe to wander off on our own. Not a pretty port, but I'm sure it's gorgeous further into the island. Read Less

Expensive. Not in our knowledge that the port was 12 miles from the beach. The beach and gazebo bar were nice overall

Just a bunch of shops for tourists. Not real exciting to get off the boat for. The shopkeepers were friendly.

There is not much to do at port as this seemed mostly and industrial port. You had to go into town or do an excursion. We found other people to ride with us in a taxi to Paradise Cove to go snorkeling. If you can get at least 5 people it is $8 a person each way for the taxi. It was $4.50 a person to snorkel if you brought your own gear and they have gear to rent. The reef was quite a swim to get there but it was in shallow water for the swim didn't get deep until the back side of the reef. This was the best reef of the three ports and is called Dead Man's reef. We saw a large turtle someone else saw a nurse shark and we saw one fish the size of a 10-12 yr old child along with many other fish and coral. They also had some man made coral area to attract fish closer than the natural reef to not swim as far. Paradise Cove would have a 4.5 star rating but Freeport overall gets a 3 for the short time in port and not much around at the port itself. Read Less

Had to take an excursion or taxi to get away from industrial port complex. Some in our group did that. 20 minute van ride in broiling heat in a packed van (they wouldn't leave until van was full) for $7 each way to Taino beach. They loved the beach, I think they paid like $25 for an umbrella and chairs. Some of us hung around, went to Senor Frogs, watched drunk people and got back on the boat. This actually turned out funnier than you'd think and we talked a lot more about our day than the ones who sat on the beach for their 3rd consecutive day. Read Less

Grand Bahama Island is still recovering from two hurricanes. Beaches nice. Many resorts still closed. There is a free beach access by police station at the Grand Lucayan Resort. Take a $5.00 shuttle $10.00 round trip. (Taxi is around $25.00) When driver turns left by Wendy's about 200 feet there is a small sign for beach access. Driver might "forget' to point out the free access sign. Shopping area across from police station. Ladies selling merchandise are respectful and call you handsome for attention. Ok any nice words I will at least buy a tiger tooth $10 necklace!! Read Less

Take a cab to Dead Man's Reef. Better snorkeling and beach than any you will book through cruise lines. No crowds, local fare, and so many fish and sea turtles to see.

We then drove over to Churchill beach next to the Wyndham hotel and it was amazing! Totally quiet, peaceful and some great swimming and snorkelling. Absolutely recommended.
