We have just returned for a 7 night cruise on the med sept 25/11

First the GOOD very friendly staff, ship is clean even though she is old it is not showing too much,

the food in the wind jammer was varied and a pretty good choice

the ports of call are good

second the BAD the great gatsby menu is bland ie 3 soups on one night as starters, long waits between coarses, cold food, expensive wine list.

and finally the UGLY how RCI advertise a beer package without also telling us that both passengers in the cabin must purchase the same package

my wife does not drink but i would have to buy her a package so that i can buy one,

also you have to photocopy your passport and show the copy when you visit the bar,. cost of the 2 packages would have been $566 and at approx $6.40 per beer well you do the maths we went with another couple and his wife likes a beer but only one so we asked could we have 1 beer and 1 soda package per room NO CHANCE

it beats me that RCI come a cross as the world of why not,!!! well why not alter this stubborn attitude that everyone is trying to pull a fast one and come up with a system that allows the sea pass card to be swiped through the till so that it registers your photo, and i agree that you can only buy 1 beer at a time, but anything is better than this present system

and while i am on about it the gratuity thing is driven down your throats its on tv its on every news letter,is the 15% increase not enough?? its about time they cut us some slack and maybe more people will try the world of why not

Drinks package or a right royal rip off

  • Cannes
very nice place we got the train to Monte Carlo it was 12 euro per person return and its a lovely journey the trains run on time and are double Decker so not like the English trains where you have to stand for the biggest part of the journey and the seats are comfy

beautiful place lots of cafes bars restaurants shopping

train is very expensive to Pisa and the ticket machines are a nightmare so we gave it a miss when it was 22 euros per person return to see a tower that should have fallen down by now

ship docks on the city limits, we took a get on get off bus again, again 20 euros its no where near as good as Rome but it passes a couple of hours although some of the attractions are hidden and easily missed

this was the only port where we got hassled by hawkers but it wasn't too bad

a lady on the ship was nearly robbed of her necklace by a guy on a scooter but he didn't reckon for her husband he was an ex boxer, one for the good guys it was a nice stroll but nothing to write home about

take the free shuttle bus to the port entrance go up the steps to the right buy your train ticket to Rome for approx 9 euros return from the shop at the top of the stairs. the train station is approx 450yards along to the right the trains are very comfy journey takes 1 hour 15 Min's unless you catch the express but there is only 1 per day and the views are good for most of the way,

get of in Termini and you will be confronted with guys trying to sell you hop on hop off bus rides these are 20 euros and are well worth it if you want to see all the sights in the small amount of time you have in the city

make sure you get the guy selling you the bus tickets to writs down the train times for the return journey along with the platform nos there are 29 of them and please check the platforms regularly they change them with very little notice
