With every cruise review, you need to take into consideration the demographic of the person(s) leaving the review. Sometimes it can all be about perspective. My wife and I (both 25 years old) just got back from our cruise on the Norwegian Spirit. This was our 3rd cruise together (2nd with Norwegian).
Leaving out of New Orleans was cool. We never experienced Bourbon Street before so we thought that was a blast, especially on a Saturday night. I had my first ever "Po Boy", it was awesome!
The Ship: The Spirit was a bit smaller than some of the previous cruise ships we've been on, however we still enjoyed it very much. I read some negative reviews about the upkeep of the ship, all of which I disagree with. The ship is very clean and it has a lot of cool features. The 'Windows" main dining room is very beautiful and elegant. Smoking is allowed in limited areas (which was nice for us because we hate smoke). The last Carnival cruise we were on, it seemed that smoking areas were not as limited, which kinda sucked because we are bothered by cigarette smoke. I remember on Carnival if I wanted to watch ESPN I had to go to a sports bar (didn't get it in our stateroom) and it was always really smoky.
