Well as I type this I am on Barcelona Airport waiting for my flight home. I have just disembarked from the Norwegian Jade cruise ship. What a relief to be off the ship at last after a 21 night back to back cruise.

We had previously spent 5 weeks on this cruise ship and had always been more than happy but this time was a different matter!! We did 14 nights in July 2008 and another 21 nights in January 2009. The standards have dropped so much we just couldn't believe it.

As we were about to embark the ship we were given a letter addressed to each individual to say that they had experienced quite a high percentage of Norovirus on the previous cruise and if we wanted to cancel then they would credit what we had paid towards another cruise. I know that this is unavoidable on ships but I have always had a letter or an email before leaving home to inform me of such. It's a bit late when you have flown out to Barcelona and spent a night in a hotel there. Incidently my husband fell victim to this and was confined to cabin for 24 hours. I don't think that it is a virus, more like the food standing about for too long.
