Royal Caribbean - Serenade of the Seas - January 15-22, 2011
Great Cruise - Great accommodations and great staff on the boat - we were not let down by the typical standards we find on Royal. That's not to say we don't have a bone to pick with RC corporate - many of you may have the same complaint. It seems Royal is the only cruise line that has changed its policy on refunding the difference to early bookers. We booked our cruise in July and paid up by the required date - November 15th. In December we saw the same room advertised for $125.00 less per person. We called our travel agent as we had done in the past and asked for a shipboard credit since we had already paid in full. The travel agent informed us we would have to call Royal directly since they had changed their policy. We called Royal and got nowhere. Talked to folks on the ship and got nowhere. While $250.00 wont make or break the cruise, seems to me Royal would take care of the early bookers as they had in the past. Otherwise, what's the sense in booking early?
This Serenade Itinerary - Tortola, St Maarten, St. Kitts, Dominica and Barbados is a great cruise and perhaps the reason Royal is so skimpish on the rebates. The ship was full. This is our second cruise on Serenade - she is a great boat - just the right size. The staff is first class and Rupesh and Katherine provided a fantastic service in the Dining Room all week. Dining Room fare was excellent - Chops Grill was also first class. Kudos to Royal for booking the former "Foreigner" band member - can't remember his name. His show was definitely the highlight show of the week.
Good cabin within the rating we went with. Mid Ship port side.
