The time that we spent inPrague was great. The Viking staff and hotel was excellent. On the river we were disappointed that the top deck was not available for over half the trip because of low bridges. If this was known, perhaps another cruise would have been chosen. The highlight of the river cruise was the castle’s that we saw the last day. Some of the side excursions could have been more enjoyable if tour guide started at different spots so that all groups were not on top of each other. The staff on the boat was top notch and we enjoyed the interaction with everyone from the captain to the wait staff. The cruise director brought a knowledgeable and entertaining element to the cruise that was really appreciated. The on ship survey instructions that anything below a 5 star rating is a failure according to Viking certainly enters bias into to the process. I’m not sure if the survey results provide any value if people inflating scores. The trip fell apart in Paris. When we got to the hotel, the Viking office was vacant. After a few minutes we found a tour guide who started passing out keys to a mob of people. There were several cruises using the hotel at the same time. During our stay we ask for help at the Viking office only to be told that we would need to wait and ask our tour director the next day. The hotel breakfast was absolutely terrible. Everything was cold. We had to wait for seating even at opening time. One omelette station for a crowd of that size, indicates that no one is paying attention. This end of the trip may have cost Viking the loss of our business.
