After 3 cruises with Celebrity, we decided to “upgrade “ for my wife’s birthday. While the cruise was ok, there was nothing inspiring about it. The embarkation process out of Venice was a disaster due to a lack of communication. The Venice cruise port is currently not allowing ships to dock there…ships now dock in Fusina. However, passengers must check in and drop luggage off at the Venice port with shuttle buses being utilized to transport passengers from the Venice port to Fusina. This process was not clearly communicated which resulted in us driving around an extra 2 hours in the pouring rain. We finally had to flag down a Silversea shuttle bus on the road (and in the rain) to find out where to go. Not a great way to start a cruise! Overall Cabins were nice. Restaurants were just fair with the best one, La Dame, carrying a $60 per person surcharge. The ship was very clean. Staff was very pleasant and professional. Excursions were good. Being touted (and priced) as a luxury cruise, our biggest disappointment was Silversea failed to differentiate itself from Celebrity. In fact for us, Celebrity provided a more enjoyable overall experience.
