Our Southern Caribbean Cruise on Celebrity Equinox was our third on the ship and we continue to enjoy it. The food, service, and entertainment were excellent and we really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere on board.

We are Captains Club Elite members and chose Equinox based on positive past experiences and the Elite perks. This was a milestone cruise for us. The itinerary was chosen with our friends as both couples were celebrating 40 years of marriage.

We probably would have rated the cruise 5 dots if it had not been for the cosmetic condition of the ship. The Equinox is not a new ship and although we didn't notice anything too serious, there were minor signs of wear all around the ship (dents and nicks in tables and walls, rust spots on the floor by balcony railings, and messy paint and varnish spatter stains on balcony railing glass panels). This was a bit disappointing as it appears the 2019 "revolution" dry dock focused on changing the color of the hull to dark blue, turning the sports court into a wind tunnel, and adding "Retreat" features for suite class guests rather than updates that benefit all guests. To make things a bit worse, there were lots of chips in the hull's newish blue paint, something we found an embarrassment, particularly since we didn't see this problem on any of the other cruise ships in ports.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Our 1A Veranda Cabin (92**) with extra large balcony was a nice, relaxing space but could have used new carpet and new cushions on the sofa. Oyda, our cabin attendant, did a great job of helping us feel comfortable and went above and beyond to provide great service.

We didn't take a cruise to watch TV but Celebrity's TV experience is inferior to other lines, including Holland America. Very limited information about the ships location and course was displayed and the selection of on-demand titles was extremely limited.
