This cruise ticked off more of our county/port destination list. Amber cove was nice and clean. The lazy river pool was relaxing but with 2 ships in port that day got very crowded by midmorning. Everyone seemed to be having fun. Port of LaRomana was interesting. Did the Catalina Beach break. You are bused for about 5-10 minutes over to another port and are ferried to the island. The water was very rough and on the way back people were getting sick because of the rocking. The boat Captain just smiled and laughed. We took Carnival tours on both Bonaire and Aruba. Both were very informative and well done.
As usual, our cabin steward Aleks kept our room in great shape and was always friendly and responsive to any requests. The wait staff at table 762 were personable and knew what we liked by the second night. The shows were some we haven't seen before so we enjoyed them. The show the last night had live music with one of the bands on board adding to the show which made it great.
Quality of food on board was disappointing. The portions are definately smaller. You get 2 small pieces of veggies on your plate. While tasty, the temperature was sometimes luke warm. Enjoyed breakfast in the diningroom where food was always hot. I know the cruise lines have cut back to save money as they try to recoup some of their loses due to the pandamic shut down, but we are paying a fair price for our vacation and there is no excuse for the quality/quantity of the food served to be cut.
Ship is showing her age and needs an upgrade. Carpet is worn in spots and there was definately an odor coming from the bathroom at times.
Fun, clean, safe Carnival port. The lazy river pool is beautiful with lots of seating. Get there early to enjoy the water before it gets crowded.
Enjoyed the top 10 of Aruba tour. Guide was very informative and made the time go by quickly .
Did the Catalina Beach break through the ship. We experienced rough seas on the ferry going to the island. People were getting ill from the rolling motion. Island itself is simple. You get 2 loungers and a umbrella. There is a bar to get expensive snacks and drinks. Definately bring your own water and snacks
Booked tour through ship. Guide/driver gave lot of interesting information about the island and how it works with the Netherlands.
